Should Gay marriage be legalized despite what the bible says?
WillGreenPiano

Con

The Bible should have no pretense in any argument that is based upon deductive reasoning. Equal rights means equal rights - equal means fair to all - America was built upon the premise of equal rights - therefore equal rights should be ascertained by the country. Following that logic, gay marriage should be legalized because the whole country is not Christian nor does it have any affiliation with any theology as a whole.

Reasons for voting decision: Wow. Both debaters gave up. It is odd that Con, the person AGAINST the resolution, actually argued FOR it. And he argued badly as well. This country was never premised upon the idea of unconditional equal rights. It was premised upon the idea that we are CREATED equally, but after that, there is obviously a lot of inequality. We do not give equal treatment to people who are in jail as those who are out of jail, for example, so the equal rights argument is bunk.
