== Definitions ==

Politics --> the practice or profession of conducting political affairs; political methods or opinions [1]

Students --> anyone who studies; a pupil enrolled in a learning institution [2]

== Contentions ==

1. Voting

Most students are citizens, and citizens of age have both the right and responsibility to vote in political elections. A voter should be well informed about the issues and candidates, and active (involved) in the political process by exercising their voting privileges. Even those who are too young to vote can aid or desist a cause; all citizens should chastise and reprimand her or his government to ensure that their views are heard and justice is served on a democratic level (acknowledging the wants and needs of citizens).

2. Jury Duty

Everyone has a right to a trial by a jury of their peers. As such, citizens are often called to jury duty. They may or may not be students. Some students opt to participate in jury duty because they see it as a civic duty and/or a learning process in and of itself.

3. Witness

If one is summoned to a court case to serve as a witness on a trial, they must comply and show up (or be faced with charges, including a warrant out for their arrest). A witness can even be a child; many students have been witnesses in court cases, which is part of a political process. Ergo, they are directly involved.

4. The Draft

War is a political tool; students must enroll for the draft in case of a political emergency or call to arms.
