it's dumb because we should be allowed to use locks on lockers because, including we girls have private things in our lockers people don't need to see and know about. Then also locks on lockers will decrease the number of theft's in schools.
blackkid

Con

Not having locks on lockers of students prevents them from smuggling in dangerous items, contraband, and storing objects that were either pilfered or considered to be inappropriate. Since the facility that owns the lockers is responsible for what is within the lockers it is in their best interest to deter such behaviors by simply never locking them. Furthermore if a student brings in their own lock as property the school, unless it has strong reason or a valid waiver (which no longer exists) cannot open the lock or otherwise tamper with it without student consent. This only makes the liability of locked lockers greater.

yes i know its for the safety of us and what we can do but for girls especially. For us its hard keeping people out of our locker.
blackkid

Con

I would say your safety is more important than anything especially since lockers are only designed to store essential items like books and perhaps coats and not designed to store everything else and personal affects. The dilemma is a question of what happens if people start using locks but someone breaks into a locked locker under the false sense of security and steals something valuable that would not have normally been left there? The school isn't responsible for personal property so there's nothing that can be done about it.

locks on lockers should be allowed!
blackkid

Con

Locks on lockers are a terrible sign of reality!

In a world where people don't steal no one needs locks.

In a world where people don't have anything to hide people also don't need locks.

The question is which side do you belong on? :O

At my school the locks can be unlocked with a key held by sanitation workers who can randomly check lockers as per the principals instructions.

Reasons for voting decision: Conduct goes to Con because Pro forfeited and the arguments she did make were terribly constructed. S&G also to Con because I saw many mistakes within Pro's writing, but few, if any, in Con's. Arguments to Con because he/she actually made good ones (haha) and Pro made absolutely no argument in Round 3, all she did was state what side she was on angrily. Sources are tied because neither used any.
