"This is my opinion" Your personal opinions, if not sated with adequate reasoning and evidence, are practically useless in the realm of debate. Rhetorical prowess requires that people's opinions be reinforced and supported by a list of points (assertions) followed by warrants (reasons why assertions are true) and implications (why the previous two matter in terms of the resolution). Try to provide a case like this for your next debate. Improvement is a constant progress with debates. Good luck! "I think that star wars is so much better than star trek cause I love light sabers." Phasers are superior to light sabers in strike range and effectiveness. C1: Technology A. Light saber vs. Phaser As far as technological might is concerned with my opponent's choice of weaponry, Star Wars' light sabers are primative weapons in comparison to Star Trek's phasers. Light sabers have a strike range of around 4-5 feet, while phaser shots can continue indefinitely in space. Dont bring a sword to a gun fight! B. Teleportation Star Trek features transporter technology that beams species, objects, anything really from one location to another. This teleportational technology is a huge improvement upon Star Wars. C. Spheres and Cubes Whereas Star Wars' villan Darth Vader has only one sphere, the Death Star, the Borg have literally thousands of spheres, cubes, etc. D. Technological Inspiration Star Trek, as you may know, inspired many of the devices we take for granted today. These range from the cell phone and social media to interplanetary travel and tablets. [1] C2: Real World Issues A. Philosophy Star Trek often invoked philosophical questions and moral concerns in its numerous episodes. Questions about death, life substitution, conflicts of rights, privileges, and standards. Is it okay to love another species? At what point should life cease to have meaning? It addressed these issues in a poignant and nuanced way, tying them beautifully into the entertaining story lines with panache. Star Wars was just action and special effects. [2] B. Relationships The episodes of Star Trek also dealt in the arena of relationships with great depth and humanity. Star, William Shatner, brilliantly put it like so, "Star Trek had relationships and conflict among the relationships, and stories that involved humanity and philosophical questions." Reasons for voting decision: This was no contest. Not only do I prefer Star Trek, but Pro's only argument was a personal opinion and Con used actual argumentation (this was likely just a troll debate, anyway).

Reasons for voting decision: Pro makes no case, provides no sources, and has poor grammar.
Star Wars are movies, and Star Trek is mostly television. If you look at it in a different prospective, star wars is simply for entertainment, while Star Trek encourages thought and ideals. In other words, IT MAKES YOU THINK!!! In a way, it is like the Twilight Zone, where it makes you consider the ideals of society and what would happen in these different circumstances.
And by the way, The contender was a ton better then the instigator, and he had more points.
and no Lightsabors is not a good reason to like star wars.
And I mean come on, who doesn't like lightsabers and the force for that matter???
Star Trek has many aspects that make it great like the first black women white male kiss on television. Is it better then Star Wars the series that made special effects to happen in later years. No, Star Trek does not have the purity of Star Wars or the epic struggle through the original movies. It is a longer slow starting show where they travel space and enter planets fighting the same characters again and again with uninspiring results and boring outcomes. The new movie was a disappointment and took the series in a way it was never suppose to but managed to restart everything over again. The new Star Wars had many moments of actual point and showed the downfall of a once good and powerful man.
Only the prequels...
