john f kennedy once said "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." now the best thing americans can do for their country is to accept and make legal steroids in baseball. i will have 3 main areas to affirm this resolution which are
1. It makes the sport more exiting
2. w/o steroids basball becomes americas pastime and nothing more
3.right to bear arms ( guns)

now my first point is that it makes the sport more exiting. this is evident by the barry bonds, mark mguires and sammy sosas. everyone wants home runs and because homeruns = exitment i say YAY steroids.

secondly baseball w/o steroids will die. basball is the least watched national sport( besides soccer who no1 cares about, and NHL and everyone hates canada) steroids means records will happen( proof of reason barry bonds) so why let baseball die

lastly the right to bear arms ( guns. with this point im refering to there biceps. they have a right to take the ladys to the gun show right right, so obviously our 2nd ammendment likes my point.

so in conclusion its obvious that steroids is great for baseball and our constitution supports it so i demand to you mr gorbachev( or bud silig) tear down this steroid banning wall.

First I would like to thank you for hosting this debate. I will first rebutt your points and then move on to mine.

You state that it makes baseball more exciting but it doesn't it makes it less exciting in my opinion. If Barry Bonds comes up to the plate and he has taken steroids. Every time he hits the ball it's either a line drive to center field for a double or a home run. Now is it fun to watch him do that every single time, always getting on base and never striking out. Out of my baseball experience I know that what would happen is that eventually pitchers would start intentionally walking him just so he doesn't hit line drives/ home runs.

Second baseball will not die out because in fact it is the tied for the second most favorite sport right behind football and tied with basketball. Now have who heard what is going on around the news. Wow Barry Bonds broke the home run record but no team wants him and no person except for a select few like him because he cheated, or as some people say took steroids.

The right to bear arms has nothing to do with this so it is irrelevant.

Now to move on to my points:

1) Multiple kids around the world are getting the wrong message from people such as Barry Bonds by taking steroids to do better in their sports. They not only end up getting caught, suspended and then they lose any respect they had for cheating. Also research shows that "Regarding the ease by which one can obtain steroids, 17.0% of eighth graders, 27.7% of tenth graders, and 40.1% of twelfth graders surveyed in 2006 reported that steroids were "fairly easy" or "very easy" to obtain. " Even more encouraging by watching big league players take them

2) Steroids are also pretty harmful by causing a wide range of adverse side effects ranging from some that are physically unattractive, such as acne and breast development in men, to others that are life threatening. The important part is the life threatening which means that players are risking their lives just to get better at their sport.

Thank you,

see the thing is most of this is about ur opinion idc about ur opinion. next i was talking about steroids in baseball not in high school. and finally i want proof that the right to bear arms doesnt refer to the constitution in terms of biceps.

First it is not my opinion it is half the people in the world's opinion that just happens to match my opinion.
Second I was also talking about steroids in baseball for I was mentioning Barry Bonds and using examples of kids getting wrong messages.
And for the last time WHAT DOES THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS HAVE TO DO WITH THIS???

Now to more of my points:

Steroids ruin the game by giving players a much bigger advantage over other who haven't taken steroids. We already know which people will hit home runs every time and which will strike out. Also since there is a 5 strike rule people are taking steroids multiple times.

It also makes the game much worse when your rooting for your team and you figure out that your favorite player was taking steroids and was cheating all along.

Thank you for the prompt reply,

ok if steroids are legal then anyone can use them which evens out the competetion and 2ndly barry bonds never claimed to be a role model, if parents ahve a problem then let them deal w/ their kids, and baseball needs a lifesaver, and steroids is that lifesavor
crazypenguin

Con

How does that even out if steroids are open to anyone. That makes it worse by allowing even kids to use it. Anyways people have better moral values then by cheating to be better at a sport. If everyone used it what would be the sense of playing a 400 ft stadium there would be hoemruns every at bat.

Also does Martin Luther King claim to be a role model? Hillary Clinton? People's parents? No but they become one just like Barry Bonds. Also if parents have a problem half of them can't control their kids. Kids take steroids in secret and you think parents can just control them?

Steroids is the one bringing baseball down, they ruin the game, break kids dreams, ruin rolemodels, encourage cheating and they just make baseball look bad.

I have rebutted all your points and made strong points on my own and that's why the con side has won this debate.

Thank you for your time and for hosting this debate,
Hope to debate you again some other time,
