This is an extremely destructive proposed open pit copper and gold mine located near Alaska's largest fresh water lake and in the heart of salmon spawning streams that are connected to the Nushagak and Kvichak River systems. It has the potential to destroy hundreds of miles of pristine salmon spawning streams and leave 2 huge mega lakes of battery acid forever and ever.

Alaska's First Nations' Peoples of this region directly depend on traditional hunting and fishing to help sustain healthy lives and culture.

Potentially wiping out the wild salmon system of Bristol Bay and its First Nations Peoples to open pit mining is unthinkable but it will happen if not stopped now.

Some mining is necessary and should be conducted in a planet-friendly and local people friendly fashion. This project is so far from that. Check out Pebble Watch for objective reporting on this proposed mega mine.
