assuming that the gov does health stuff, it should be giving loans and or subsidies instead.

the problem with insurance is that it's a hand out to the insurance companies.
instead of copaying the poor who can't afford insurance and giving, the the gov should simply subsidize either the catostophic situations, or if the gov does it, co pay at the doctor too. or loan money in both situations, that doens't have to have interest perhaps, or paid in a specfically fast way.

this would be much more cost effective.

You clearly know nothing about economics.

Our country is already in deep economic trouble, we are in a recession, crashing. We are nothing short of SCREWED. The fed keeps cutting interest, loaning money, etc etc. We cannot afford to finance expensive medical care to Americans for many reasons.

1.It would put us further in debt. We're already 9 trillion in, we need stop spending.
2.Once I had a life saving operation, the motivation to keep paying diminishes exponentially.
3.The problem exists with the insurance companies and our economy, we need to make the Insurance companies accountable for their terrible ethics.

Besides, the government should not be involved at ALL!

What should be done is that these insurance companies should stop being public companies and be made into private corporations who have accountability to one group, their customers, and not to both their customers AND their stockholders.
