why turn the driving age to 18 some teens that are turning 18 soon will be devastated because there is probably a car in their garage at home just waiting for them when they turn 16 just calling their name I mean jeez go ahead and crush their dreams why don't ya I think the driving age should stay 16 and make it that way
Surely, my opponent knows that the hopes of a sixteen year old getting a brand new car for their birthday is hardly a justifiable reason to keep the driving age at sixteen. Con has asked why turn the age to eighteen and the number one reason for doing so is to ensure the safety of teenagers and other drivers on the road. In the United States of America, vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for teens, with seven deaths a day (ages ranging from 16 to 19)1 Additionally, studies support the idea that young drivers and individuals have a worse ability to perceive potential risks and are more likely to partake in dangerous driving activities.2 These are only some of the factors that indicate the driving age should be raised.
