We should put the Environment first since the oxygen we use is from the trees.
Without any trees, our world would be dull and everyone would find it hard to live. All the animals that live within the trees would have no home which would cause them to infest our houses. Also animals will become endangered if their habitat was destroyed.

Putting the environment first is too short sighted. Stopping us from throwing away plastic bottles is not enough, and that doesn't matter. We have to do what is best for human life to be sustained. People are constantly saying 'save the planet'. We don't need to save the planet. We need to make sure the planet can sustain human life. No matter what we do to the earth, nuclear wars, small arms wars, throwing away plastic bottles and bags, drive SUVs, hunt endangered species, etc, the earth will still be here. It will be this little green and blue ball floating around the sun for another 50 billion years. The planet doesn't need humans to go on. Animals don't need environmentally conscious people to go on. We are humans and we are naturally selfish. Even if we want to clean up the earth, we are doing it for selfish reasons: so that we have a cleaner place to live for the next 10 million years... if we survive that long. The planet isn't going anywhere, the environment will change and adapt to the way it is, and if we humans become too much trouble, the planet will wipe us out. Think about it: dinosaurs would be dominating this earth had they not gone extinct but some sort of natural disaster. The same thing can happen to humans. But it doesn't matter what we do. The earth doesn't need us. We don't need to be environmentally friendly. That's not enough for the earth. We have done too much damage. We have to stop the damage we are doing and then try our best to reverse it, but we won't. Why? Because everyone that can make a difference won't. Why? Because everyone who can make a difference has a cell phone that can make pancakes and give them massages, so no one wants to rock the boat. The first world country men and women have been bought of, satisfied and silenced by gizmos and toys. The businesses of this world control the country. They have hypnotized the world in to keeping it the way it is. Do we need to change? Probably, probably not, but even if we could, how do you propose a cheap way without taking my magical cellphone away?

The environment shouldn't come first. People should. If this involves the environment being made important to take care of, fine, but people ought to be first. If it takes destroying a little environment to save a person, many can agree it's worth it. So no, the environment should not be put first.
