Cars are neat, I like them a lot and I've been fortunate to have had a few nice ones, but motorcycles have a long list of advantages over their 4 wheel cousins.

In my experience, if you like bikes, there's a good chance you appreciate cars, trucks, boats and airplanes, too, not all to the same degree but a particularly nice example of any motor driven vehicle can bring on a smile. Eventually, though, most of us have to choose among the categories if we're going to invest our resources on one or two vehicles (or more) and when the choice has to be made, motorcycles have a lot to offer.

Here's my personal list. It might vary from one person to another, your list might have items I haven't thought of, but I think these give you some food for thought.

1. You can fit 3 or 4 bikes into the space occupied by one car. Make maximum use of a small garage, buy motorcycles.

2. Motorcycles use less gas. 30 miles per gallon is on the low end and smaller engines can get triple digit mileage.

3. Motorcycles outperform cars. Sure, some exotic cars can keep up with a Hayabusa, but not many and the cost is usually 10 or 20 times the cost of the bike, or more.

4. You can rebuild a motorcycle if you're mechanically inclined, you don't have to do very much body work. Not being particularly skilled in body and paint, I appreciate this one.

5. Motorcycles cost less. Even classics and collector bikes can often be purchased for the price of a very plain used car.

6. Motorcycle riders are safer, they don't text on their phones while riding.

7. Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. If you want to be a little closer to your passenger, brake a little quicker for the next stop. ;-)

8. Motorcycle riding gets you out in the fresh air. Smell real pine trees, not the scent of a pine shaped deodorizer hanging from the mirror.

9. Motorcycle riding develops your coordination and balance. Brake and clutch levers for your hands, brake and shift gears with your feet, learn to balance at slow speeds, many drivers could never do it.

10. Best of all, there has never been a recall for unintended motorcycle acceleration.

That's a start, how many more reasons can you add?

I would first like to wish my opponent good luck.

I would secondly like to clarify the definition about:
a car: "A road vehicle, typically with four wheels, powered by an internal-combustion engine and able to carry a small number of people" [http://www.oxforddictionaries.com...]

a motorcycle
: "A two-wheeled vehilce that is powered by a motor and has no pedals." [http://www.oxforddictionaries.com...]

Benefits of having a car rather than a motorcycle:

Cars have additional space for items:
Since cars are generally larger vessels they can hold many more items than a motorcle, especially since most have specific storage compartments implemented in the design, like the boot, or a trunk (as Americans call it). For storage, cars are more practical.

Cars can hold more occupants.
Since cars are generally larger vessels there are generally more seats in a car than on a motorcycle.

It is generally more comfortable in harsh seasons.Modern cars generally have built in air conditioning and heating systems.
So, if it is a hot summer's day, one can comfortably utilize the air conditioning option and roll down the windows of the car. Whereas, for a motorcyclist, it is given that one can feel the cool air, but the car has air conditioning, but the motorcycle doesn't. If it's a cold winter's day, you can comfortably utilize the built in heating system to warm the car's occupants. Whereas, for a motorcyclist, you would have the freezing cold air and no way to warm yourself. It would be worth adding that most cars can cocoon the occupants with waterproof materials, in other words, it can be watertight. If it is a rainy day, the car's occupants would be protected from the rain. Whereas, motorcyclists would have to wear complete waterproof clothing to be unaffected by it.

Motorcycles are generally easier to steal than cars.
A car owner can lock their cars.

Cars generally provide extra protection than motorcycles.
Cars have seat belts. Many cars have crumple zones - absorbs force from a crash. There is also the body of the car that absorbs some of the force in a collison.

You can be more social. One can communicate with the people inside of the car. One can also connect their phone to the car, via bluetooth etc, (if the car has that option) so that they can talk over the phone safely.

It's a better choice for families.
If you have a big family, a motorcycle is not going to cut it. If you have a motorcycle and not a car, you can say goodbye to family trips. The points above also correspond to this.

I will now respond to parts of Con's "personal list".

"Motorcycles outperform cars. Sure, some exotic cars can keep up with a Hayabusa, but not many and the cost is usually 10 or 20 times the cost of the bike, or more."

"Motorcycles outperform cars." This statement is untrue. This is a generalisation that all motorcycles outperform cars, which is false. I will compare the "Hayabusa", as con mentioned, to a super car. The Hayabusa's top speed is "188–194mph (303–312km/h)" [http://en.wikipedia.org...]. Now, I am going to compare this to a Bugatti Veyron to prove that "Motorcycles outperform cars" is untrue. The Bugatti Veyron top speed is: "408.47km/h (253.81mph) (average)"[http://en.wikipedia.org...].

"Motorcycles cost less. Even classics and collector bikes can often be purchased for the price of a very plain used car."

"Motorcycles cost less". This statement is untrue. This is a generalisation that all motorcycles cost less. One can fund cars for prices cheaper than some motorcycles and vice versa.

"Motorcycle riders are safer, they don't text on their phones while riding."
"Motorcycle riders are safer". This statement is untrue. This is a generalistation that all motorcycle riders are safer. It is who is driving the vehicle, and whether they are responsible or not.

"Motorcycle riding can be really cozy. If you want to be a little closer to your passenger, brake a little quicker for the next stop. ;-)"

"Motorcycle riding can be really cozy." But it can also be very cold. "Motorcycle riding gets you out in the fresh air. Smell real pine trees, not the scent of a pine shaped deodorizer hanging from the mirror."Most cars have the ability to roll down their side windows. They could experience the exact same sensation as one on a motorcycle. Con's point also disregards the posibility of having convertible cars.
