I don't think that the quality of a piece of art should be judged based on the artist's life, it should be on the skill and on the beauty of the piece itself

The funny thing about that is...

Art is about the silliest thing to get pretentious over. Something that is easy to one person is nearly impossible for another to pull off.

Art is judged on a completely subjective basis.

Some people judge art based on how much skill or effort was put into it.. But hey, that's an individual thing.

If that's how you want to judge art, that's just part of how you subjectively evaluate it.

I completely agree. It because of artist and the artists drama that we even have that put up with neo-dadaist and surrealist modern crap. Even the good artists we remember, we only remember the crazy ones like Caravaggio and Sargent.
