ART, What-is it good-for... ab-so-lutely ___________

yeah, I'd say for finding the scope of your emotional experience.

I think the only other use would be propaganda.

It's good for expression and entertainment. Like music, dancing, and the other fine arts.

I find that art expresses the true colors of an individual's soul and provides society with an enriched experience of passion and devotion to a subject at hand, or in the present.

Why not? I agree it shouldn't be a compulsory course, but surely, for students planning on making a career in the arts sector, or wanting to attend an arts school, an elective course offers the best way to help them move along that path.

yeah, but art-themed high schools are racist by requiring auditions and stuff.... cause minorities don't have the opportunity to be trained in the arts when they are young so they are at a disadvantage. so art school is bullsh*t.
evidently i only come to ddo to avoid doing homework...

Art is good for expressing yourself, sending a message, entertaining others and yourself, it is good at bringing people together while also getting diverse thoughts and opinions.

Art isn't physics... you don't have to be trained to be good at it.

Art precludes knowledge. The expression of knowledge is through art. Art is absolutely essential.

This website wouldn't exist without art. Even if debate weren't considered an art, then this website would otherwise be so boring, it would die.

It helps if you start training at a young age, but that is true of anything, art, sport, work, language. Doesn't mean you can't get good without the extra help or training, but it helps.

there is such a thing as technical skill in the arts. and in any case, i was trying to make fun of the ultra liberals here in san francisco who made that very argument which resulted in the school of the arts being forced to accept minority students who couldn't pass the auditions....
