Of all the musical genres on earth, progressive rock and progressive metal are my favorites. As such, here are my top 10 progressive bands:

1. Rush
2. Opeth
3. Animals As Leaders
4. Scale The Summit
5. 35007
6. Renaissance
7. Ozric Tentacles
8. Yes
9. Pink Floyd

And last, but certainly not least, Amplifier, who may very well be the most underrated and overlooked band today. I just can't get enough of them sometimes.

I know I'm to get heat over this, but James LaBrie's voice is like a dentist's drill on a chalk board to me, otherwise Dream Theater would be on this list.

Discuss.

I haven't delved into progressive metal too much, but I am pretty obsessed about prog rock. Obviously I'm more into the classic prog bands, but I've been exploring neo-prog allot recently.

1. King Crimson
2. Pink Floyd (Though they're only partially prog)
3. Yes
4. Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree
5. Van der Graaf Generator
6. Camel
7. Renaissance
8. Gentle Giant
9. Agalloch (See, I do have one prog metal band here)
10. Caravan
