Steel sharpened on the whetstone
doubled-edged with an iron grip and pommel
red rope, tied tightly around the rain guard
is it red? Or is it just me?
I look down and see blades of grass
sharp enough to slice wind
yet soft enough to bend from my weight
the once blue skies have gone yellow
is it yellow? Or is it just me?
my hand, gripped around her waist
I see her lips moving
I feel the warmth of her breathe upon my neck
I cannot hear her though
is it her? Or is it just me?
suddenly a sharp jolt of pain
shot from the earth herself
into my feet, crawling painfully up my spine
as if I stepped into a hot pan of oil
yet shaking as if stuck in a freezer
is it a dream? or is it just me?
No, this is not a dream
suddenly it all makes sense
a war... the great war...
I'm dying, I see that now
it is as clear as a crystal stream in springtime
the rope is not red
but my blood has stained it so
the sky is not yellow
but my eyes are blinded by ash
the woman, who see's the sword
the steel blade piercing my stomach
had I really fallen on my own sword?
the shock has robbed me of my senses
I have lost my sight, touch, and sound.
I taste iron though... how ironic
you taste what soon enters your stomach
this time it is in reverse
I am awake, yet it feels like a dream
I see suffering, yet stopped feeling pain
only the warmth from the woman
who is looking upon the dying man
what a poor soul, she must be thinking
but I am not
so I whisper to her
as the reaper rings his bell
and comes to collect his toll
that tears should not be shed
when met with death
for I am finally going home
to the place from which I came
and although I know not
where that place is
or where I will end up
I know one thing,
the dream was nice
the rope was beautiful
and the world was quiet
finally, quiet.

Ode' to peanut butter -
how sweet the taste
wheat bread, crust removed
grape jelly, always so purple
peanut butter and jelly
the sun and moon
some things are meant to be
the perfect snack
so quick and simple to make
such filling-ness
that which peanut butter does
yummy, x's 1000
delicious, squared by 4
even mathematicians
love peanut butter and jelly
just as cats like jelly
and dogs like peanut butter
so ode' to the sandwich
which has filled so many of our bellies
yummy, x's 1000
x's 1,000,000,000
such numbers give no justice
to that which is...
peanut butter and jelly
no crust.

My cat can beat up your cat
this I know fashure
my cat can beat up your cat
and never hides in drawers
my cat can beat up your cat
it will scratch it in the eye
my cat can beat up your cat
never been that de-claw kinda guy
my cat can beat up your cat
even in a rape fight
my cat can beat up your cat
I got $5 on that, tonight
my cat can beat up your cat
heck it can even beat up dogs
and cats have fought alligators
and even sharks like jaws
my cat can beat up your cat
cuz she's black and can blend in with the dark
my cat can beat up your cat
and even walks with me in the park
my cat can beat up your cat
I train her with live mice
my cat can beat up your cat
not once, nor twice, but thrice
my cat can beat up your cat
3 times, that's what I said
my cat can beat up your cat
and then will pee on your bed
my cat can beat up your cat
she is 1/16th panther
my cat can beat up your cat
okay, I'm done.

I am still struck with this poem you wrote a week ago. The details, the pain, the sorrow, the confusion, the reality, the fantasy, the rage, the peace... altogether collided into this one thought-out-provoking poem. Oh and the visuality is the most intense too. A lot to take in though, if I must say. Good job, again I'll say!

The dew streams off a teary face.
Crying pain comes In all place.
Dull drainage has no energy of race.
Only but in arms reach to fully embrace.
Wretched soul of mindless grace.
Flawed hearts doom of pure trace.
Deck of cards tumble with a fallen Ace.
Defense of all sorts can be used by mace.
Clashing worry of the sea spreads the case.
Sweet berries sit upon the branch to glow of base.
Merciful colors flow beauty for simple pace.
Lights of joy shedd abroad God's redeeming lace!
Better than deserved, as ALWAYS.

Beautifully written. I like the sudden reality of the story.

Did you intend "I taste iron though... how ironic" to be a pun? Because I laughed at it XD

Haha, a great poet always adds additional dimensions to his work. Sometimes, he will be so great that he doesn't even realize he's done it. Cheers to your good eye!

A little late, but this was great! (Wow, I unintentionally rhymed...). I was almost inspired to write a rebuttal poem about my puppy..but I think your cat could also beat my puppy up!

Cats rule.

After a...two-second search on Youtube, this is all I got:

https://www.youtube.com...

I lose lol. But in my defense, I'm allergic to cats haha

Good god... is that the propoganda they are feeding children these days?!!

I didn't mean for you to search "cats rule", it was a poor job of proper spacing on my part but I shared a YT video in that response. Might be at the top of the comment - all I'll say is, cats are fvcking OG.

Lol, I saw the video. I think I searched "dogs rule" or "dogs are better than cats" or something. Then again, there was a news report a while back where, if memory serves, a dog was attacking a kid and the cat saved him...so you win on that.

Yup, I had to google "OG." lol.

Life over Death
Death is in my face clear as crystal.
Scars of pain hardly drift away to me.
Doves play with no restraint, free!
Yet in this world I'm in prison...
In prison with myself, in this flesh!
This house deserves to burn for eternity.
Mercy and Grace chose to forgive.
Have I failed to share this light of truth?
Where'd I go wrong? Who'd I wrong?
Figures walk as corpses of no meaning.
Death awaits them with no alert.
Death! Oh, death! This terrifying death!
Await fleets your heart so still?
Drains the life from your finite skull.
Can't cry, can't weep, can't sob away!
Passivity is a prideful intention, so is anger.
Balances of such can only lead true direction.
Narrow path of Godly claim only truly saves!
Weeping eyes for loss of worth and value.
Comfort is here, or is it? Has it been?
The mirror is my own reflection, why silent?
Words, wisdom, knowledge has been perceived!
Tell me! Oh, tell, vile creature! Why? Are you afraid?
Death is soon to be, and yet no words even slip forward.
Oh for shame, for shame of failed heartfelt love!
Love is no word or feeling, but a verb to which has been dropped.
Dropped, dropped only by the ones who say they love!
Reflection has killed me inside out!
Wait... But, wait... God-willing, there's still more time!
A test is always given whether in dark or light.
Persevere! Always! For God never fails.
If God be in me, then I, too, must not fail!
Death! Oh, death! This terrifying death!
It lingers on, it's breaks me like shattering glass.
Where is the soul if none but hidden?
Run to it, run for it, run WITH it!
Lose not sight or ear for what truth is!
Trust this enduringly everlasting!
Secrets of no truth bring only harm.
Rest assure, revealed truth is nothing of harm.
Of love and care can truth only be assessed forever!
Better than deserved, as ALWAYS.

My sister wrote this today. She's 17. But it's pretty deep. Enjoy.

Reality
Why am I so unimportant to you? What do you want me to do?
I feel I am useless and broke. I am nothing more than a joke.
You broke my heart slowly. So now I'm feeling lonely.
Can anyone hear me? Is anyone there?
Is it just me or am I going crazy? Maybe my sight is a bit hazy?
I don't know what reality is. Could I ever be His?
Is God real or is He fake? Answer me for heaven sake?
Can You hear me? Are You there? "Yes I am here," He said.
Now I am far from dead. God is my healer and friend. He will be with me to the end.
I now know what reality is. Now I am truly His!
I know He can hear me. Now I know He is there!
Better than deserved, as ALWAYS.
