Saw a thread that was centered around this (not here), and so it inspired me to draw the most underrated line of the original starters (and maybe of them all, in general).

Bonus: an attempt at Salamence with my non-dominant hand.

Something to keep in mind, I only had 30 or 45 seconds to draw each of those pictures (I think 45)

Nah, they're terrible. From worst to best (even though none of them are good) I'd think it would be: Salamence > Venusaur (who looks like he has a broken jaw) > Bulbasaur > Ivysaur.

On a slightly related note, purely because it's pokemon, I'm gonna share a story from when I used to play (I would still play if it weren't for my DS breaking)

So a few years back, I was playing fire red (I love fire red...). I can't remember exactly where I was, but I was battling someone, a person who was a more powerful player, like one of those people who you randomly find near the F4 who turns out to have OP pokemon, and not some skid on the side of the road with two grass pokemon.

So continuing on, I had only taken three of my pokemon for some reason, I guess for the heck of it. Big mistake XD

They had 4 pokemon, and I easily took out #1 and 2. Then, after my first pokemon is kinda low, he sends out his third. No biggie, sure, this pokemon is good against mine, but I have a move that is super effective, and likely could take him out with two moves. However...his pokemon was faster than mine. Took him out. Well, crap. Looks like I gotta throw in my next guy. Oh well.

I have no idea how, but I only took him down about halfway before my #2 was about to faint. I managed to get one more attack in, but only brought him down a little. He takes out #2.

I'm starting to get worried now, but throw out my next pokemon, Arcanine. His pokemon, I believe, was electric, so we were kinda even. Still, he took Arcanine down about a quarter of his HP, but I beat his 3rd.

Oh thank god, started to get worried there. But I beat him, whew...

Then, the next thing I see, which was four pokeballs, made my heart beat rise again. He had one more pokemon...and it wasn't a water type or anything, but something fire didn't really do much against, probably rock. Luckily, I have some move on Arcanine that does a lot of damage to rock types. First attack brings it down to a little under halfway, so far so good.

I remember very clearly the feeling I got in my gut when I saw the move "earthquake, magnitude 6!"

This feeling of my stomach wrenching, feeling suddenly empty, my heart ready to burst just from those words alone. Had I been older, alone, and had a better knowledge of swearing, I'm sure my neighbors would've heard me. My palms were covered in sweat, and I was freaking out.

But that doesn't even compare to the feeling I got from watching my health bar drop like a sack of potatoes thrown out of the back of a truck. Watching my health go from 3/4, green, to yellow, and then red as fast as it did literally made me start twitching. I plainly remember shouting "NONONONONO!!!!!!!!" when it happened, and I knew it was over.

But suddenly, it stopped. The HP bar stopped, with just a sliver left. I had about 18 health left, and I scrambled to my bag. I needed a max potion, any attack would kill me. However, the best potion I had was one of those that brings up your health by about 50 points. That wasn't nearly enough. This left me with one choice...

To attack, and pray. If I attacked second, I lost. If I missed, I lost. If he healed his pokemon, I lost. If anything happened other than me attacking first, I lost.

After a moment of silence, I began to plead with Arcanine, hitting the attack again.

I saw the wonderful words show up, saying Arcanine was attacking first. I began to whoop, but I whooped too soon. Turns out my first attack was a critical hit. I brought his pokemon down to about the same level of health as my Arcanine, and watched in absolute agony as he went to attack.

But OHMYGOD WHY WON'T IT END!? the attack missed.

I yelled "I LOVE YOU ARCANINE!!!!" and used the attack again, finally beating the trainer. I nearly threw my gameboy, cheering. I got my money, Arcanine went up a level, and I went on my way, victory achieved.

Ever since then, no matter what kind of battle I went against, no matter what saved file I played, I always had an Arcanine in my party. To this day, I still have that held love and respect for Arcanine, and know I will always have one on me when I play fire red.

And this all happened because I didn't pay much attention and ended up battling one of those few trainers who has that set up party where if you do something wrong, you're in trouble.

Pokemon #1 was Blastoise, and pokemon #2 I believe was Pidgeot (in my party). I still don't know why I sent out Pidgeot against his electric, probably because it was a higher level

I was playing Diamond, and at this point I was just above average so I was cocky and all like "Battle everyone, beat everyone, my first pokemon is all I will ever need" I was walking through the "Rainy Road" as it was called by friends and I. When I encountered another trainer. I said "Oh boy, a fight, I will beat him" So I throw out my first Pokemon: Infernape. I'm like"Ho ho ho ho ho ho, beat that." He throws out a Gyrados. My jaw drops. I'm like "Oh noes, don't do dis." Infernape attacks it was a decent hit, then gyrados attacks, not too much damage. Then the screen says"It continues to rain" Oh crap it was raining, how could I forget. The health bar drops and I'm like oh no this is gonna suck, but I will fight with only my first pokemon because I can. Another attack, some more decent damage. Then he attacks, and even more damage, plus the rain. Infernape is hurting and I can see this, but I attack again. And gyrados attacks again, even more damage, then the rain, Infernape is in the red, there is that little pixel left, and I'm like: "Poop, there goes Infernape." Gyrados has half of his health left, I feel like it's over for Infernape. Then I attack and Infernape straight up knocks Gyrados out. I was so happy, I healed him back up and to this day, chim-char is my favorite starter. I also disrespect Gyrados now and refuse to ever have one. In a game of Platinum that I got already started from a friend, I found a Riolu and named it Flames in honor of that Infernape. Flames is now a part of two different teams that have beaten the Elite Four. He is also my main battler in double battles.

I used to do that XD
My cousin brought fire red with him to the beach (each year, we go to the beach for a week) a few years ago, and I'd never really played pokemon. I'd seen the show, though not many episodes, and nowhere near in order. I'd collected some cards, but I didn't really get involved with pokemon until this week at the beach. Day one, he lets me play. For that entire week, I was constantly playing. This was something new, this was amazing. I'd never played a game like it, and I loved it (before, I'd never really been much of a gamer). So, for most of that week, I only trained my Charmander. Sure, I had other pokemon, but I'd rarely use them. Eventually, my cousin began to look at my progress and laughed, trying to explain that I needed to actually train my pokemon, and at first I ignored him. Though, after that week, I didn't get to play. I wanted a gameboy, but my parents were saying I couldn't yet, for reasons I can't really remember.

Then, one day, a few months later, they surprised me by handing me a gameboy with fire red in the cartridge and asked me to show them how to play.

Of course, during that time, I'd learned that I needed to train other pokemon, so once I actually had the game myself, I trained all of my pokemon.

Also, just saying, I managed to catch MewTwo with a regular pokeball. Screw the master ball, I don't need that! I'd still have that file with my pokeball-caught MewTwo, but my dog chewed up the cartridge while I was away for a weekend, so I had to get a new one XP
