With a flood of new members nowadays its hard to keep track of who is worth talking to and who is not. We should group the debate.org dedicated members (ones who comeback after a few debates). Debate.org is expanding like a small town growing into a large city, yes we expand and we get more debates, but the sense of community is diminishing. I say we create a DDO senior members club. I have a few members in mind.

Anyone interested?

We actually already have that, you just aren't in it.
Should we subsidize education?

Idk there are trolls that show up that aren't worth talking to that show up after a few debates (penis pic dude)
and there's really no good objective way to decide on whose in the club.
My biggest concern is it would create further tensions between site members.

We could do this, or stop making nonsensical posts and bumping threads that can easily take place in PMs or on the DDOMafia.com chat system.

I'm not sure which is more beneficial?

I think it's too elitist, personally. Debaters should gradually realize that they're a part of the community, not fight for a spot in some selective club.

His grandfather died in the beginning of January, sadly. So he took a little break from DDO and now he's been on a bit sporadically. But... you know all of this. :)

OP

It would lack any practical function except perhaps an elitist pride in veterancy, which would threaten additional membership. We have no need or desire to protect ourselves or get some special status. We don't need anything resembling immigration certification to regulate new membership, and we don't need to make new members into a second-class citizenry.

If you want, go for it. Most members don't really want any part in it, since it does create a barrier between current members and new members. But if you feel that you need to have an elite club, get some members that you want in the "club" and all be on a group PM together and that can be your "clubroom."

I think what is more important then recognizing the "veteran" members is recognizing which members may be the ones that stay for the long haul and encourage them to stay, rather then risk chasing them away with closed arms.
