That was a BALLER debate.

Insofar as I'm plugging my own debates, I also had a good one with feverish about language [http://www.debate.org...]. Everyone said that was pretty stellar, so I feel like that one might stick out.

Awesome. ^^

I want to get a reading list of the best debates going, since there's no easy way to search for them on the site.

Looks like you're demolishing your opponent over there. I'll put up a better challenge, I promise.

I have no doubt in my mind that you will. I hope you really put me to work on it. So far, nobody has really challenged any of the pro-nihilist arguments, which is annoying.

These debates ought to be listed on the cover of DDO as a separate feature from "the best debates of the month" which I heard will be installed. Why? Well, this feature would be like a crown upon DDO and more importantly I suspect that novices would rather have their debate listed on the cover of DDO than be the one with the most debates won. Ergo, we will have Quality over Quantity.

I completely agree. I think that part of the reason this site doesn't attract as many good debaters as I would like is that people click on the site and on the main page are a collection of low quality debates. That and the fact that some good debaters do occasionally turn up, then have their debates taken by idiots not acquainted with the subject matter.

If there were a tab like that showing A. That great debates can happen on this site and B. Who people need to challenge to be ensured of a good debate partner, this site could attract so many more quality debaters.

Here was an interesting one I did while looking for the one i was talking about that I thought was generally pretty interesting about post nuclear war survival. The twist I gave was hilarious too

No Ultimate Team War up there? Well, I'm glad I'm in one of the greatest deabtes, at least.

The Kleptin vs. Grizzly Bear debate was definitely awesome.

@mongeese

It isn't the absolute list of ultimate perfection. If you think there are better ones/ones that should've been included, post them! I want to get a good reading list going so the best debates are all in one place.

@askbob

I just couldn't decide between all of Brian's debates - and the OP would've been massive if I'd included all the good ones.

That nuclear survival one was pretty awesome. Keep em coming.

Could have just said that all/most of Brian's debates deserve a mention.

First of all, he's doing this math based on surface area of the rocket and common cargo hold. We must remember that this ship will have no return mission, so we can obviously forgo some of the inside machinery for that for more cargo space. Moreover, it is entirely possible that people can be stacked on top of one another on the rocket, perhaps even four layers deep, thus dramatically increasing efficiency and decreasing costs. And remember, we don't have to make it safe: we don't expect them to survive. So, we could make this mound of humans even deeper by disregarding safety precautions. Furthermore, it is possible to erect a huge pole on the end of the rocket on which to put even more people on. All of this would dramatically cut costs! Of course, I am unable to actually predict on these costs, as we no tests of this nature have occurred. Also, this money spent on the rocket simply goes right back into the economy. Think about the huge economic boom to the steel industry! I will get to the costs that it saves the world when I rebuild my own case.

That was probably the best refutation ever.
