Is a mercy vote appropriate or not in your opinion? In Double_R-vs.-Izbo10 debate, Double_R obliterates izbo 75-0. Is a mercy vote justified to have "mercy" on the other person? Why or why not.

Is there a chance that some of the votes cast against Izbo are done with a bit of bias?

I don't usually vote on Izbo's debates.

Just as a sidenote MIG, maybe you'd get more out of this website if you actually bothered to debate instead of chasing people you don't like with conflict-provoking questions.

I didn't even know it was up to 75, geez. Not to be biased but I do firmly believe the answer in this case is no. I can certainly see mercy points being tacked on when the final score is not a true indicator of how close the debate was, but the losing member must do something to earn those points. In my debate against Izbo he showed no interest in truly defending himself and gave up. He didn't earn anything and in the end only affirmed the resolution.

And although has nothing to do with the debate, Izbo still goes around calling everyone else idiots even after he showed incapable of defending himself against that very same charge. So if you want to talk about having mercy on Izbo...

A vote you don't believe in is still a vote bomb, regardless of the score.

When the entirety of his last round consists of 40 words, yet he still manages to work in an Ad Hom, I would say voting against him is justified.

Yes. When people see the name "Izbo," they immediately start getting biased. In one debate, there was a guy who just ASSUMED that he would win that debate with Izbo simply because he was Izbo.

Yeah, you do have a point there. What debate was that?

Yes actually, I mean he clearly won this debate...
http://www.debate.org...

But as a rule the votes follow the truth.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.
