I would like to make the following petition:

DDO:
Can you update the Big Issues topics? Eliminate topics like "President George W. Bush", "United States", and "War in Iraq" and replace it with things like "President Barack Obama", and "Non-interventionalist foreign policy". Add things like "Balanced Budget Amendment", "The Draft", "Illegal Immigration", "End the Fed", and "States Rights".

It'd be great, but Innomen said that the coding is unnecessarily complicated and thus probably won't be changed. And like Ike said, how many of the things we've asked for have actually been done?

It's incredibly easy: find and replace all cases of "G.W.Bush" on profiles with "Barack Obama". Some people who meant Bush would be changed, but that would be an extremely small inconvenience for an extremely small minority. Or, you could just do it on the choices specifically. Also, with Presidents, it's racist against non-Americans! I demand a Labour/Conservative/Lib Dem option!

...but seriously, the first thing should happen.

Ok. I think we have proved that we have proved that it would not be difficult to alter the Big Issues.

Please sign the petition.

I don't know anything about programming, but how hard can it be to change two words?

Apparently yes, and this information came from Eric before he left Juggle, so I believe him to be telling the truth. He said that Phil created a code that made this sort of thing very inflexible, and would require a huge amount of their resources to change.

I dunno, he built this site from nothing and sold it for $100K. Whereas Juggle just bought it and sits on it, with barely any improvements worth talking about. On the whole I give more credit to Phil in terms of business acumen. In terms of writing code, he may have created it so with the knowledge that when the time comes for an update, it really won't be his problem anymore.

I'd bet half the people on this site could fix it.

Is there any way to ask for access to the code and then perhaps have someone help you look at it?

Can we have some information at all released about it (open source would make the site prone to hacking)?

I'm going to guess this site is coded in HTML, ASP.Net, CSS, XML, Java Script and/or PHP (maybe a little C++ thrown in there depending). Either one or those languages or a combination of all of them. Theoretically, if there was no outside encryption, extremely complicated algorithms, etc. Then, it would be quite simple to change two words. If there is any complicated coding, which I hope there wouldn't be because when designing a website simple == better and a scroll down menu is not all that difficult, then it may take a bit more time you may have to actually, pause all debates and close down profiles for a couple of hours to fix any issues.

Why don't we propose instead for one day close the site and let them deal with any issues. With a team of 3 or 4 programmers they'd be able to revise and fix any issues.

Simple = better iff[sic] you don't plan on being necessary. If he planned on not wanting to update it, and planned on not wanting to get, say, out of a job, then complex = better, I think? (as long as you know what to do that is).

and thx for the mistake fixing before.

And he couldn't just ask Phil the information on how to change it? If they paid all this money, Phil should give them the info on how to change certain parts of it.

how about we wait til AFTER his presidency ends before we add Obama to the Big issues.

If we want to be taken seriously we should really just focus on adding or subtracting just one

Well, that could happen in a few months, God willing.
