This is a formal request for a way to solve the debating problems that have emerged.

Proposal 00/001 (might as well do it UN style)

=====================================================
We, as the debate.org community hereby do the following:

RECOGNISE that there has been heated discussion over the issue of the debate "Caucasians-are-inherently-more-intelligent-than-African-Americans".

RECOGNISES that the debate has led to multiple useless threads clogging up the forums causing general displeasure and harming the name of debate.org. The displeasure is caused by threads like the following:

http://www.debate.org...
http://www.debate.org...
http://www.debate.org...
http://www.debate.org...
http://www.debate.org...

APPAULED at the behaviour of BOTH jimtimmy and 000ike for their behaviour in this event.

APPAULED at the actions of third partes that have became involved in the debate.

APPAULED at the votebombing that has appeared in the debates, especially those who have claimed to have done so for legitimate reasons yet knowingly not doing so.

HEREBY RESOLVES:

REQUESTS a judicial hearing on this debate, in order to recognise the true victor and any voters who have voted unfairly with malice and forethought.

CONDEMNS those who are fairly judged to have voted improperly, and punished for their action with proportion to the DDO law.

CREATES a voting standard which can be used to compare against votes.

In the hope of the following:

THE END of this chapter of DDO history, and so this can be put behind us.

LEGISLATURE that can be used to compare votes against others.

FASTER solutions to these problems.

It's a recognition of that case which holds general resolutions.

The resolution has general effect. it goes from specific event, learning from it and using the learnt info to create a general rule.

If you agree, can you sign the resolution?

If many people do sign up to it, we can make this change. It doesn't effect those who will not feel the difference. But for those who will feel the difference, who do go into the forums and who have high-profile debates, this will be very important and will change things for the better.

Who will be on the judicial hearing?

I have an idea how the judicial hearing *could* go, but this is a) something that I and others will need to discuss with the elected President, and b) a separate issue to this. This is to make sure that people want a judicial hearing to happen regarding the voters and the debaters. In all honesty, I think the court would be either the debate as done for izbo, or something similar to the Leveson Inquiry.

I'm okay with something like this, as long as it is an exception to the rule. Nothing retroactive, I don't want people going into old debates trying to change things, that would be a nightmare. The disputes need to be legitimate, and the net result would need to be about solving problems not inflaming them.

If you would like to further explore it, I would help facilitate.
