Hello all, it is I, Charlie Danger

I apologize for my recent absense, but I have been VERY busy. Nevertheless, I have made the commitment to running the First Annual Debate.org Tournament of Champions, and I plan to see it through.

The contestants currently registered are:
1) mongeese
2) mongoose
3) leet4A1
4) Charlie_Danger
5) TheSkeptic
6) rougeagent21
7) theLwerd
8) wjelements

Any last-minute registrations will be accepted by listing your name as a reply to this thread.
Any topic suggestions will be accepted with a limit of two per person, and will be added to the list of possible topics if written below as a reply to this thread.

The tournament will be in bracketed, single-elimination style, possible double-elimination if the only 8 contestants choose.

The topics will be different every round, chosen randomly from the list of possible topics.

All semi-finalists will receive auto-qualification for next year's tournament.

The tentative dates for the tournament are:
Round 1: July 1-5
Round 2: July 5-9
Round 3: July 10-12

Again, I have promised to see through this tournament, even if it is only 8 people. Hopefully with this tournament's success, more people will participate next year. I will answer any questions below, ASAP.

Sincerely,
Charles R. Wanless

This is obviously in no way based upon the real-world Tournament of Champions.
: If you weren't new here, you'd know not to feed me such attention. This is like an orgasm in my brain right now. *hehe, my name is in a title, hehe* (http://www.debate.org...)

Just in case I get into some BS with FREEDO again about how he's NOT a narcissist.

So... what's there to destroy evil inside of and above the constitutional government?

It was at first, but due to a lack of interest and my temporary absence, it is modified.

The guy has a point. In any case, how can you run something that you yourself are in? It seems a little lopsided...

What's with the "Help keep DDO legitimate" part?

I assume the leader board, but I don't know what was meant.

I would like for other people to be included in this, and I'm sure they would like to do it.

People that need to be in this:
alto2osu
Roy Latham
Logical-Master
Kleptin
InquireTruth
burningpuppies101
...just to name a few.

Still listing:
-Ragnar
-Puck

That's 8 more members. We can have a 4-tier tournament. We have 16.

The organization team is unnecessary when we can present ideas here.

Puck's not interested... Sub in JBlake in my list of the new 8.

how do you get to be in this when you only have 9 debates? i say that you should replace yourself with L-M

As stated in the first post, to qualify, you must be in the 90-100 percentile, or have made it to semi-finals the year before.

Yes, but when we're all throwing ideas back and forth, it's one big, unorganized mess; I'm just saying, having a designated team of people helping to set things up would be far more efficient; that doesn't mean we have to eliminate input from the rest of the DDO community. :P

That sounds like a just idea. But deciding these members is for another time.

Also, I have my brother helping me "run the tabroom". Besides, a 16 person tournament is not too difficult to do, at least for me.

Okay, I love having the additional participants, so I guess we will briefly postpone the first round, BUT, I need direct confirmation from every one of those members IN THIS FORUM.

Sound good?

Be sure to tell LM and Kleptin that they CAN suggest topics, no matter how rediculous.

I'm in the 90-100 percentile range can I join? Just kidding I would get my @ss kicked. How is this being judged? By using the at sign, I can bypass the no profanities rule.

Confirmed.
It is odd when one's capacity for compassion is measured not in what he is willing to do by his own time, effort, and property, but what he will force others to do with their own property instead.

Confirmed, though I might pull out if I don't like the rules/format/topics of this tournament.

Or is that taboo?

Screw it, I'm in.

That was what I was saying, she ought to post rules and regulations beforehand so people actually know the conditions under which they're operating; unless everyone loves surprises :)

OP is a he :)

But I think they should be fairly reasonable. The only feasible explanation of why I might pull out is if the topics are way too boring.

I meant Charlie_Danger, that's the 'she'. :D

I love LD topics though; and from a preliminary list I saw, that was the majority of them; besides, LD generally debates the fundamental questions under things; it's a question of justice, or morality, or rights, or individual vs society; it's all theory and principle as opposed to 'what can strike up the most controversy?'

But I'm an LD debater, so I've grown to love it. Haha.
