I put together a graph of DDO members who have published their Political Compass scores (www.politicalcompass.org). Click below to see where you fit in.

Very interesting. If more people took this, at least active members, we could have the balance equal out I think. But, we do have a good number of active members, so I like it.

Can I get added to that picture too? :D
I took the quiz, so I can get you the results if you're willing to slap me on there.

Just in case I get into some BS with FREEDO again about how he's NOT a narcissist.

Absolutely. Anyone who wants on it can post their results here.

I'd like to see some more libertarians and conservatives post as well. There is no shortage of the around here, but the graph wrongly suggests otherwise.

I just re-took the test to see if my stance had changed within the last year. I'm in the same spot to the left, except three spots lower down (whatever that means).

It looks like Panda is my closest neighbor, which is kind of scary since he's sort of a Marxist lol. Oh well.

Economic Left/Right: 7.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.05

I can get you the image result I got if you want that; I'm not sure if you overlayed or something to make that picture of yours.

Wow, I just looked at the graph again, and the example position that the quiz site gives for Friedman is EXACTLY where Wjm is. Holy f*cking sh!t.

I actually disagree with Friedman a lot. The graph where the compass actually puts Friedman is a little misgiving. For example, I took the test trying to answer everything as Hitler would and got neither as high nor as far right as Hitler (though both were off by 1-2).
I believe that the politician positions are estimates.

(Lol nobody's too far in in the second quadrant)

DDO has a liberal bias, clearly. Or, a socially-liberal, economically-left bias.

You can group them up too. There are social democrats, liberals, and straight-out-and-out communists.

Now we have a bit more of a balance. Left-Right is about even (11-10).

Quadrant 3 has 10, Quadrant 4 has 8. Where are our authoritarians?

I'm not too close to anybody yet. I want to see JCMT's results. We have like an 87% agree ratio or something like that.

If we try to break it down to ideology from what we have here I would label:

Social Democrats/Progressives: 7
Libertarians: 5
Communists/Socialists: 3
Liberals: 3
Neoconservatives: 2
Moderates: 1

We probably would have to break down the Libertarians, but I don't know how they would break.

Minarchists: 3
Anarchists: 2

The problem here is that everyone knows Ragnar is a minarchist and not an anarchist. I don't know how to properly break down the five to the right of Sportsguru. Anyone?

I notice that most of us are in the lower left while most politicians are in the upper right. I am relatively close to many DDO folks, but I'm relatively far from Ralph Nader and Barack Obama (the presidential candidates who I am closest to).

The compass is only two-dimensional.

It's because politicians want maximum control, while the most of us want maximum freedom.

I noticed that too. I would disagree with where they put the politicians, based on the questions asked.

The compass is only two-dimensional.

What would be a good third dimension for politics?

An example of a 3D layout of societal organizations: http://en.wikipedia.org...
Not of ideologies, but it's pretty close for all intents and purposes.

As for figuring out the ideologies of people, you could just go to their profiles and look at what they've declared they are, right?
