If you or your team were thinking about ordering from Mushroom Cloud Press, I would advise you not to.

Let me explain further....

My debate coach ordered the "Awesome Mega Deal," where you get about 80 or more plays for $199. The pieces never came in the mail. When my debate coach tried to contact Mushroom Cloud, they never responded. We have sent them SEVERAL emails, and all were ignored. In the past, I have emailed them to ask a question and they replied within a day. So obviously something fishy is going on. We are now in the process of getting our money back.

This is supposed to be a legitimate company and is recommended by the debate camp at UT, so why would they not respond about our missing material?
I can't defy gravity (I'm actually quite clumsy), but I can defy the norm. Try to stand out.

Textbook publishers get sweetheart monopolistic deals with universities. Nowhere outside of universities would a brand new, mass-printed book cost several hundred dollars.

Because its a response to your blind faith belief that anything recommended for university students wouldn't be a scam. I've been through it and I tell you now -- its ALL a scam on you. Students are even better suckers than the elderly to many scammers.

Its a hard lesson, but don't trust anything just because its recommended by your university.

PervRat is a pathetic socialist who trys to equate every problem to greedy capitalists. It's quite sad actually.

Hopefully MCP will get you your books eventually.

...Sorry, but what do scripts for plays have to do with debating? I can understand if you're trying to practice public speaking, but there are cheaper and better ways... Also, I looked at "super mega-deal" or whatever it was and it looks like a ripoff, relatively and absolutely. $200 for a lot of kiddie plays? If I'm wrong please correct me... still I have to ask what was the point of this?

From what I understand, Britt, there are 'competitive acting' competitions. I would guess these scripts play to that.

They still look bad though. ^^

I was really targeting people on this site who might be part of a forensics team. They compete in interpretation events and would possibly be looking for pieces. They are not books, they are plays. So yeah. There you go. Beware.

interesting name. If i'm ordering something from a company with "mushroom" in the name, i'm probably not buying paper. at least, normal paper.
the again i'm not ordering that on the internet...

Generally, Debate and Drama may compete at the same tournament, but they are far from interwoven; or, perhaps that's just how we are where I'm at, as far as separating drama and debate (or rather, shunning drama).
