Dugg!

It's hard to get things on the front page of digg, if you don't whore yourself out to like 800 friends it's virtually impossible. Good luck, I see that's a new account, but if you stick around and use it for more than promotion you'll probably enjoy it. It's a great site.

I could crush either candidate about the economy, they both have absolutely no clue what is going on. Neither does much of the general public.

1. By proceeding with bailout (however this would only fix it short term)

2. For the long term I'd propose working internationally to provide transparency on the world derivative markets. Once the extent of damage was revealed, I'd do my best with top negotiators to ensure that the derivatives mess had been fixed. If we proceed with the bailout plan but ignore the housing market and the derivatives market, we wont see significant growth to our economy for a long time (take japan as an example)

The derivatives market provides the axel grease so to speak for the world economy, without it growth will be a lot slower. The derivatives market is essentially an insurance for business (this explains AIG's problem) The only problem is that we don't know how much the insurance contracts were worth.

The first solution to our problem short - term is definetly proceeding with the bailout, however we must see how much these "toxic assets" (derivatives) are actually worth and see if we can negotiate deals with foreign investors. Waiting longer will weaken foreign confidence in our markets and deepen and lengthen ours and the worlds current recession.

I'll continue on this later, I'm late for my calculus class.

It was perhaps a great disappointment that this never happened. Maybe next election.

That's because this originated back when this was DDC, not DDO.

Here's their article about it: http://www.debate.org...

I think the change happened quietly. But, yes, we were DDC once. Taht article I linked to was about the challenge to the candidates.
