Im bored...someone debate me. Here are the topics:

1. The U.S. should intervene in (pick 1):
Syria
Iran
or North Korea

2. Unipolarity and Hegemonic Stability Theory are correct IR theories.

3. The U.S. should continue the War on Terror.

4. Anarchism is improbable due to weak societal defense.

5. The Republic is a rhetorical attempt to curb political extremism.

I'm willing to debate you here, not in a standard debate, no 5, please clarify

It wouldnt be standards debate. Generally if its a format like LD that would be specified.

And for #5 there are two competing interpretations (not the only 2 but 2 main ones) which differ on how to interpret the seemingly tyrannical nature of The Republic. The Popperian interpretation is that we must take it for face value, that Plato was a political extremist who wanted to institute the regime in the Republic. The Straussian interpretation (the one I defend) is that Plato was not endorsing the regime and was actually using it to protect against political extremism.

How do you define anarchism in 4? Does it preclude a libertarian socialist community where there is a highly structured society and community, just originated in purely voluntary interactions and contracts? Like it would basically be like a very small state, just more decentralized and voluntary in nature.

Anarchism would refer to any system that:

(1) Lacks a government
and
(2) Lacks a mandatory/coercive/involuntary tax structure

Is a government defined as 2?

I'll take Con, but I have to finish at least one of my current debates before I can take on another. If you post this challenge on Tuesday, I should be able to debate you.
