So, the ELO formula that I used was an old file that didn't have the contender advantage adjustment factored in. I have corrected the formula and I am currently re-running the numbers.

Sorry, I will resend people's ELO once done.

I wonder if this will help or hurt my score. I contend a lot, but all but 1 of my losses I instigated.

The only person who has instigated more debates than myself is brian_eggleston, followed by The_Skeptic, then wjmelements, then Logical-Master.

Looking at past data (Ore_Ele, if you have updated data, I'd like to look at it), it seems that pretty much all of the top debates contend far more often than they instigate. Only Freeman instigated more than he contended, followed by wjmelements, MTGandP, myself, The_Skeptic, and FREEDO all at above 40%. At the other end of the spectrum, Danielle, Mizra, Puck, and Kinesis instigated barely more than 10% of their debates.

Of course, there seems to be something wrong with either my data or my data analysis method, because RoyLatham ends up with 190 debates, and he should only have 186 even now.

The data that we have includes ALL debates, including those that never get accepted or anything. If you make a debate and it gets a debate ID, then it is logged and saved into the data.

An example would be people that create debates to hold their sources. Those would be counted in our sheet.

I'll send you a new one, but 16k has instigated more debates than he has contended.

For example. 16k has 155 instigated debates, 42 of them have no votes (I would have to go through individually to see which just never received any votes and which were canceled for whatever reason), and 10 them never received an opponent.

For the ones that no one ever accepted it says "NULL"

can you shoot me your email again. I think I found it in my email history, but I'm not sure if it is yours or not.

For example, this debate would show up as NULL, and even if he canceled the debate it will still appear in the data. I believe challenges that are declined also appear.

lol, maikuru => the time instigating really backfired. I thought I'd get some mickey mouse opponent to debate me about Lost and get to vent all my frustration...... tsk, tsk. That didn't turn out as planned.

Another example is this one.

http://www.debate.org...

Whether it is accepted or not, there is a debate ID, and so it will be counted in the raw data.

I've instigated 23.8% of my wins, and 45.5% of my loses.

Do draws(which I have a 100% instigation rate) affect your ranking at all on ELO?

I've instigated 73% of my losses and 43% of my wins. lol I think that might explain my terrible record.
