I find that it would be a good idea to hold a mach presidential debate. In this debate we would nominate 2 debaters from (R) (D). One of coarse representing Obama, and the other one McCain, any adding ideas?

Well I certainly have a list of topics that could be discussed. Do you want a bunch of mini debates in which they would debate the topics or something on the forums?

That could turn out to be quite interesting, actually.

It could, I think a bunch of mini debates on various topics would work out great.

I would volunteer myself to such a thing.

And of course, the two candidates would switch off on who would go first pre-determined in messages, etc.

Only problem we might run into is of course Josh the troll and his band of cronies.

I think that we should have 1 candidate for each. That way we don't run into scheduling problems. We can have a list of predetermined topics. EX: R1 - War on terror R2 - Taxes

That's what I was talking about. One person would do all the mini debates with the other person. Make it the format they do in the presidential debates.

One person speaks, another person does, they get to respond, and they get to respond.

Which is why 2 rounds work.

Ok, cool! By mini-debate do you mean separate or in the same main debate.

Seperate. 5 Round debates might be too confusing.

Like you could have 1.) War on Terror, 2.) Alternative Energy, etc.

I'm saying 1 debate - overall.

R2 being ____

I like this idea, a lot. Props to labrat. This could be really interesting because then we would all be able to see both McCain and Obama's real points.

Problem with only Round 1 things like that: The person starting the debate does not have a chance to refute what the opposition says.

I think the ability to refute in foresight is a quality of great debaters.

How about this:
R1 Gay Marriage, War on Terror – Obama
R1 Gay Marriage, War on Terror - McCain
R2 Gay Marriage, War on terror – Obama
R2 Abortion, Economy – McCain
R3 Abortion, Economy – Obama
R3 Abortion, Economy – McCain
R4 What would your first action be as president? – Obama
R4 What would your first action be as president? - McCain
R5 Closing Statement
R5 Closing Statement
This format is fair and balanced. Obama opens, McCain Closes. Each also has equal opportunity to defend oneself.

I like that format, however we can have more then one. That way more room to discuss more topics. Abortion and Economy all in one round is tough.

No, I just would rather it didn't have multiple offspring. That way it wont last for 4 weeks. Just one main debate that will last a couple.
