Good evening, DDO!

In addition to redesigning the individual "Debate" pages for ease of use (http://debate.org...), we would also like to address relevant opportunities for feature enhancements and bug fixes.

Currently, the 2 items deemed most important by members are Team Debates (Share your ideas here: http://www.debate.org...) and the ELO Ranking System (Currently in progress).

To help us prioritize other enhancements to the "Debates" pages, including increased character counts and improved voting and scoring mechanisms, please take our poll here: http://poll.fm.... We ask that you identify the THREE (3) enhancements you would like to see most.

Meanwhile, we have also been compiling your feedback regarding difficulties with existing features. What follows is a list of items that are currently under investigation.

Bugs/Issues Under Investigation:
-Vote rankings do not seem to be working for new members
-View count of debates can be increased just by refreshing the page
-Changing the tense from "Winning/Losing" to "Won/Lost" once voting is over
-Why data is sometimes lost when typing in debate fields
-Issues when importing and copy/pasting from various word processing programs
-Fixing special characters that are often displayed as HTML codes
-When typing in the debate fields, there are formatting issues when you hover for explanations
-Sometimes wins and losses are counted before the voting period is over

If you have any other enhancements you would like to see added to the "Debates" pages, or bugs/issues you would like to see fixed, please share your ideas with us here.

As always, thank you for your feedback, and have a wonderful day!

^ That bug alone is responsible for a couple dozen idiotic debates actually.

I don't think you should change the ranking system, I think it is fine the way it is. The ELO ranking system weighs the user's rank based on how hard his opponent's were which while seemingly fair isn't in actuality. The current ranking system takes into account one crucial aspect that the ELO system doesn't which is how many debates you completed. The sheer amount of debates completed should contribute to your rank because that signifies hardwork, also the ELO ranking system is weak when all the good debaters are inactive which is happening right now.

It most certainly does not! half of my debates alone have been troll debates accepted by morons and we end up having a trolling fest and somehow a winner is chosen. Another good chunk of debates have been noob snipes that often have been forfeited, another chunk of them are so crappy they dont deserve to have a winner or a loser. Debate quality is immensely more important then debate quantity because the number of debates a person has completed creates a completely false enigma of how good a debater is. You really think im the 2nd best debater on the site? Yeah me neither.

also the ELO ranking system is weak when all the good debaters are inactive which is happening right now.

Elo rankings in no way determines ones ranking based on how active somebody is....

Why would we want to add a veteran forum?

I would hope that you finish the new ELO ranking system soon. I also hope that you fix all of the bugs soon and that all of the enhancements listed in the poll are done because all of them would be very positive.

Just to be clear, we would not be replacing the current Leaderboard ranking system with an ELO ranking system. Rather, there would be TWO separate ranking systems, the ELO system and the current system.

It's not a veteran forum. Rather, a couple users have requested the addition of a "Veteran Board," similar to the Leaderboard, that displays relevant information about the community's "veteran" members.

Thanks for your feedback! Please keep it coming!
