If you have any questions on the types of trades, execution timing, market hours, industries, or any basic stuff I'll help out. If you ask me to provide strategic risk analysis of your foreign technology stock portfolio, I won't help out.

Best website for charts: http://www.google.com... After typing in a company's symbol, click the Large Chart button in the top right and then scale the time to one day to get a sweet chart.

Buy low, sell high; short high, cover low.

The stop loss order is designed to limit an investor's loss. Setting a stop-loss order for 10% below the price at which you bought the stock will limit your loss to 10%. So, on a stock that costs $10 a share, I'd set the stop loss price at $9.00 if I wanted to cut my losses at that point. The benefit of a stop loss is that you don't have to constantly monitor all of your stocks throughout the day to be aware of losses, so with that order in place it decreases your stress level :)

The commission level is set to $10. That means that every trade (buy, sell, short, cover) you execute has a transaction cost of $10, which disincentives hyperactive trading. If you trade 100 times, you lose $1,000 dollars not including any losses you may sustain.

Market opens at 9:30 and closes at 4:00 EST. Intraday trading isn't allowed in this game.

Note: Don't feel bad if you lose money during this stock market game. The stock market is manipulated by thousands of idiotic active speculators with gambling personalities, the Fed, bizarre reactions to every news story and analyst report, et al. Most of the stocks you'll purchase will not resolve their long-term values during the duration of the game. Don't take it personally and don't think that whoever is in 1st place is an investing genius. Short-term, ignorant investing is essentially a slightly more sophisticated version of gambling. With that said, MouthWash completely fails as a Jew. [Source: http://tinyurl.com...]

I was just looking at those charts.

Here's the S&P 500. Change the time to "all".

Tell me that isn't a little creepy.

It's just another sign pointing toward the end of this world on December 21st!

I've never done this kind of thing before and to be honest I don't even know enough to ask the right questions about what to do. What's a good beginners resource for learning about stock exchanging?
