I've noted a disproportionate number of "Should Socrates have drank the hemlock?" debates. By sheer volume, this topic seems almost as important to members as "Does God exist?" and more important than the US President or gun control. I'm curious--what has spurred these debates? Is it perhaps a high school or after-school club requirement?

Probably some kind of debate club or school. This has happened before.

Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet nights..."

I feel like I have seen it with other topics also. I can't name them now, but I remember one day when there were many debates with other topics...

But yes, the school thing does make sense.

And so it is! I received a reply from one debator: "It's a college assignment."

Though it might not be the same as all the debate?

Wikipedia: A troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion

The irony. ;)
