What topics do you wish were talked about more?

Which DDO members do you want to see butt heads in a debate?

What silly resolution would it amuse you to debate?

What issue have you been wanting to debate but havent found the right opponent for?

you vs bluesteel would be a sight to watch.

What silly resolution would it amuse you to debate?

Don't really like silliness.

What issue have you been wanting to debate but havent found the right opponent for?

Actually, finding opponents is easy. Just PM them and ask if they want to debate. Finding a topic and crafting a resolution carefully enough such that you don't give your opponent too easy a task is the real challenge.

I think that would devolve into "what is art?" pretty quickly.

It's too hard to come up with contentious engineering topics that aren't hyper-specific.

The obvious exception being conspiracy stuff like moon landing, 9/11, etc.

I originally joined this site to debate 16kadams, so I'd like to see that happen one of these days.

Didgeridoo-off. I need to practice a bit more, but once I learn how to circle-breath you Aussies are going down.

This used to be a problem back when I first started, but I don't really have problems finding opponents anymore.

Space is a great avenue to explore but topics about Space too often devolve into economics (as if there aren't already thousands of debates on economics). I would like to see the Science & Technology aspect of it explored in depth as opposed to Economics.

I've always thought there's a lot of scope for debating within environmental engineering. Not usually done in a technical way though which is unfortunate.

Debates on the desirability of immortality are always interesting. I did one and had a good time with it. Its not done a lot, so there's probably tons of new/different arguments people can come up with.

I haven't seen any "I will not contradict myself" debates in a while, which were entertaining because of the unique methods people came up with to negate.

Legalizing organ sales is also a good one.

Tthe KCI is sound.

Determinism. Haven't seen this one or the KCI in a long time.

As for debaters, I agree that Raisor vs Blue would be great. F-16 doing a troll debate would be funny because its so far out of his comfort zone.

@ BV, I did quite as few non-serious debates (about the existence of god with Thett3 and a couple with Brian and a couple of music debates with LDF) not to mention the mafia debates with drafter and Danielle. The only one that would actually classify as "troll" though is the one with crackrocks about whales.

@ Raisor, crafting resolutions is my weakness although I don't usually mind being the instigator. The reason is that contender can often take the debate in a completely different direction unless the arguments are very specific to the resolution. Here are a few that I could think of:

The International Space Station is better than Mir on balance.

The space shuttle on balance had better capabilities than the Russian Soyuz.

Humanity should colonize Mars (this one like your moon debate would quickly shift its focus to economics and politics most likely). Maybe "a moon base is likely to be established in 25 years" or a Mars base is likely to be established in 50 years would work" but then again, debaters would quickly start arguing about which politician and which party would support moon/mars bases as opposed to whether the scientific research, development and technology we have would such bases viable which is the really the sort of topic that would interest me. A little bit of economics and politics isn't bad. It is interesting of course but then I wouldn't want it to overshadow the science aspect of it.

St. Dogknox vs. (DDO - St. Dogknox)

Should be interesting to see how many sympathy points (DDO - Dogknox) can gather.

I'd like to see a debate between RyuuKyuzo and Heineken. They both have a 100% win ratio, and neither of them has any tie. If they debated, then one of them would have to break that record.

I don't care what they debate.

I have a few debates that I would like to see. A debate on school vouchers, a flat tax, and partially privatizing entitlements would be good ones to see. If anyone has any links, it would be appreciated.
