Classify in bold who the votebomber is, and then evidence with link to debate. Also make sure to clarify whether it is a rationalised vote or an actual votebomb.

I myself have no problem with votebombers... as yet. But the amount of people I have heard being traumatized and scarred for life by a vote they didn't like has gotten so much so to the point where this issue must be addressed accordingly.

Don't blame anyone whose vote you simply didn't like, these must actually be legit, illegitimate votebombs. We are talking about at least 1 case with a vote with NO RFD or cases of rationalised votes with more than 5 examples to prove the person guilty. Of course, I would expect people to defend themselves, which will give this debating site more debates!

Let the games being!

Badbob: http://www.debate.org...

6 points to pro; RFD: "Interesting debate but I give nod to pro" - http://www.debate.org...

5 points to con; RFD: "con wins" - http://www.debate.org...

Cases where he doesn't explicitly votebomb he rationalizes his votes.

Yeah. Voted against me on one single issue that wasn't even relevant to pro's BoP. Even if I was completely wrong and pro was completely right on the topic he based his vote on, it wasn't an argument for the resolution. It was my counter argument against the resolution, so refuting it did nothing to prove the res. I'm guessing that's the only part of the debate he looked at. He then got angry after I questioned why he called me simple minded, which had no warrant.

Votebombing can be solved by helping people by teaching them how to vote, not by shaming them. I created a thread about support groups for voting although no one really backed the idea significantly. Essentially, if you see someone votebomb, refer them to a support group that will teach them how to vote and tell them what was wrong with their previous votes.

For instance, if Jarhyn or Badbob is rationalizing votes, show them why and explain to them voting criteria and how to analyze the debate to judge the performance of the debaters.

While I agree that ignorance is a large cause for votebombing, I think people like Jarhyn or Historygenius just care more about helping their side win the debate. Their votes strike me as based on bias and I don't think making them more knowledgeable would help.

I do agree partially though for sure. Many people votebomb simply due to ignorance even if they're not themselves inherently unfair. Ragnar (not RagnarRhal) for example, has had a few questionable votes but seems honest to me. He just wasn't aware of voting standards.

I think you are right. Still, I wonder what the motivation is to always vote for the side that they agree with. What is the point? Why do people do it?

I think it is just a childish emotional attachment to their beliefs. Opposing arguments make them angry, and anger needs a target. So for them voting is a means of lashing out and letting off steam, regardless of whether it accomplishes anything. It's kind of like throwing your cell phone at a wall because you don't like the person on the other end.

qopel Obviously. Dude voted for devient.genie because the "Bible," which I didn't use, wasn't "reliable" on a God's existence debate. What is that I don't even

The case against Qopel:

7 point vote-bombs by qopel
RFD: The use of Pascal's Wager proves Pro is the Moron.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: What goes around, comes around.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Unlike some people, I actually READ the debates before I vote on them.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Anything good a Christian can do, an Atheist can do better.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: The Bible is just a book of fairy tales.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Vote bomb much? What goes around, comes around
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Burden of proof not met. Claims without evidence. Conduct points for suggesting lies without evidence.http://www.debate.org...
RFD: CVB (not a CVB)
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: I thought Con had very good arguments. I believe Con did really well
http://www.debate.org...
RFD:

votebombs lower than 7:
RFD: Conduct speaks for itself (false)
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Conduct speaks for itself (false)
http://www.debate.org...
The above 2 votebombs were against chicken, who was the target of qopel"s rant for posting a vote against him on several occasions:
http://www.debate.org...
http://www.debate.org...
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Con provided no evidence, just claims and opinion.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Begging for votes isn't good conduct.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Con made the most convincing arguments by describing each story in detail and showing how silly they are. Con had some good Bible sources, but is the Bible "reliable"? Spelling and conduct tied.
http://www.debate.org...

Rationalised votes:
RFD: I'm not an English major, but I thought Pro had better grammar
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Opinions that make common sense can still count in a debate This wasn't about banning all stocks, just new ones, so all the arguments about how people would lose their jobs and investments were invalid.
http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Con was just making lame excuses for why humans destroy their environment by not having free will or not knowing better. That doesn't prove the Earth would be better with us. Con makes a claim that we will change to a new stage, without evidence for such a claim. Con contradicts himself by saying we were created, yet evolved. Grammar to pro since con wrote "emotions is fiction" instead of "emotions are fiction". Nobody used sources, but pro used an accurate description of what is currently happening to Earth by humans.
http://www.debate.org...

Poor RFD votes:
1.http://www.debate.org...
In the above debate, qopel gave sources and s/g to Pro, but didn"t justify those. "This was not a debate about feeling pain. It was pointed out that "unborn" can either be classified as human or fetus, depending on what stage, so it was impossible to say either way if an "unborn" should have rights."
2.http://www.debate.org...
RFD: Pro had better conduct. Con called the debate "wasteful". Con had better spelling and grammar. Con used sources, although it still didn't convince me.
3.http://www.debate.org...
Conduct goes to Pro because the first round was only for acceptance and Con used it to make an argument, Pro doesn't know the difference between "to" and "too" so he loses on spelling, Con tried to use "spontaneous generation" which is abiogenesis, not evolution, so I am less convinced of his arguments, even though he used many reliable sources.
