When doing extemporaneous speaking at debate tournaments, what is the permitted size of note cards? Also, is it a better idea to use lined cards or unlined cards? If you have any advice, please type it in this forum. Thank you so much.

I would recommend not using a note card. At all nationally recognized tournaments they won't allow you to and at most other tournaments the judge will knock points for a card.

IF you are going to use a card (see above) make it a 4x6 and don't write more than bullet points on it and maybe a quote or two. If you read off the card it makes you look downright goofy.

I actually prepared my speeches on full sheets of paper on a notepad. After a few speeches I was able to do them memorized. But the goal for sure should be 7 minutes memorized.
