On other forums for a certain number of posts you get a certain rank.

Usually referring to the name's theme, such as this one forum relating to shark's,

The worst you can get is Guppy and the best is Great White.

Should we make our own, and maybe (unlikely) implement them on the actual website mainframe? (phil)

1-100 = Novice
101-500 = Case-Maker
501-1500 = Varsity
1501-3000 = Guru
3001-4999 = Veteran
5000+ = Master Debater :)

No. Encourages spam.
: If you weren't new here, you'd know not to feed me such attention. This is like an orgasm in my brain right now. *hehe, my name is in a title, hehe* (http://www.debate.org...)

Just in case I get into some BS with FREEDO again about how he's NOT a narcissist.

"The law is there to destroy evil under the constitutional government."
So... what's there to destroy evil inside of and above the constitutional government?

I have at least 3389 although I believe the actual number to be around 4000+

I spend more time debating than posting in the forums. I guess it really doesn't apply to your actual skill. For example there is a member on DDO who joined in the first online debate tournament. He forfeited both of his rounds but 2 months later became national champion in public forum. I don't consider him "novice" debater. Most ranks are completely inaccurate anyway. Maybe a ranking system for the actual debates would be more appropriate. Except have them listed as how much that person doesn't have a life :D

If the titles are relevant to the persons forum experience rather than their overall debating skills, than yes.

I.e.

1 - 100: Forum Upstart
100 - 500: Getting into this
500 - 1000: Regular
1000 - 2000: Discussionisto
2000 - 5000: Watercooler Wizard
5000+: Forum Fanatic

Etc.
Pizza. I have enormous respect for Pizza.

Or just make it an indicator of mafia participation. :P

What's funny is that I don't remember you lol even from your old account... I remember a few forum posts, but I don't actually remember you as part of the community. I remember/know more about you from your departure than from when you were actually here. Then again, I took a long DDO hiatus (I don't know if anyone remembers, but last year I was actually voted "Most Missed" member because I left for awhile...) Anyway but yea I don't doubt that much since you have 1/4 as many posts as me in just, like, a month. And *I* was nominated as always online? Lol...

I think it's stupid when people say that kind of stuff. Before I moved to Illinois, I had plenty of a life lol I was a college student, in a co-ed fraternity, had girls and girlfriends up the wazoo, partied at least 4 nights a week, had a 30 hr. per week job and still managed to do a ton of debating. So the fact that someone spends a lot of time on DDO doesn't mean they "don't have a life." Most of the people who claim those who are on DDO a lot and "don't have a life" are really the people with no lives who say that to make themselves feel better about their own pathetic lives. Haha I especially like when HS kids say that others on here "don't have a life." I mean do you really "have a life" in HS? What do you do anyway? Nothing significant or especially fun lol I was there and I remember :p

Not to mention that, there are probably a lot of fantastic debaters on this website who hardly get around to posting in the forums at all. Adding a ranking system on the forums seems... purposeless.

Examples are RoyLatham and even LM to an extent.

That's why they're called "Post" ranks, not "Debate" ranks.
"We must raise the standard of the Old, free, decentralized, and strictly limited Republic."
-- Murray Rothbard

"The worst thing that can happen to a good cause is, not to be skillfully attacked, but to be ineptly defended."
-- Frederic Bastiat
