My first attempt at replacing the current voting requirements was too crude a gauge , and was excluding people who are obviously qualified to vote. I hope the following criteria will accommodate for a broader range of interests seen here on DDO.

Option 1:

To qualify to vote, a user must satisfy both conditions in at least one row. This is an addition to at least three months membership.

2,000+ forum posts and membership for at least nine months : 0 debate words
1,000 forum posts : 5,000 debates words
500 forum posts : 10,000 debate words
250 forum posts : 15,000 debate words
100 forum posts : 25,000 debate words
0 forum posts : 50,000+ debate words and membership for at least nine months

Option 2:

To qualify to vote, a user must gain at least 12 points

Has voted in two or more prior DDO elections: 2 points
Has been a member of DDO for at least three months: 4 points
Has been a member of DDO for at least one year: 7 points (not in addition to the 4, and this goes for similar instances)
Has at least 100 DDO friends: 2 points
Has engaged in at least three debates: 3 points
Has written at least 5,000 debate words: 5 points
Has written at least 50,000 debate words: 10 points
Has posted on the forums at least 250 times: 5 points
Has posted on the forums at least 1,500 times: 10 points
Has had a prior account banned: -5 points
Has completed at least five debates within the preceding month: 2 points
Has posted at least 250 times on the forums within the preceding month: 2 points
Has voted on at least 50 debates: 3 points
Has answered or created at least 100 opinion or poll questions: 3 points

I agree, but this is actually kind of easy standards. I have been on DDO for no more than a month and I have about 16 points. I would raise it to twenty.

That part's not really an issue. Do you think it's weighted well?

This would be painful to apply in practice.

Actually, maybe not. But it's sort of hard to compare 5 round, full-character debates to a bunch of smaller ones.

I like how I can get three points for voting on two debates, when I can't vote on debates until I get enough points.
My work here is, finally, done.

Yeah... I do about 1,000 words per round when I really try. I average about 500.

I support a point system, but this will ultimately be decided by the new president (hopefully they will do a committee or public vote on what to do, but it is ultimately, their call).

However, somethings that I think should be implemented...

Points should only be based on debates, posts, and votes. When you get too many factors that create points, it gets harder to calculate quickly. If counting the votes is too complicated and takes too long, we end up with a poorer structure and more complaining about what is and is not a valid vote.

Members that choose to close their accounts and create a new account forfeit any points they had from their old account (so only what they've done with their new account counts).

Actually, many people that are well-known vote. We only need to check the lesser ones.

Agree.

Option two might be a bit complex...but some reform system like that might be beneficial. Just simplify things some more.

You definitely said 50 debates, also 50 elections is far too many for a person to vote on prior to being able to vote. That's like 25 years for 6 month terms.

You're kidding here right?

Oh, I see your confusion. These requirements are for voting in DDO presidential elections, not voting on debates.

You definitely said 50 debates, also 50 elections is far too many for a person to vote on prior to being able to vote. That's like 25 years for 6 month terms.

bye troll

?

Your prior comment made no sense whatever, so I assumed you are a troll.

Let me explain it to you.

Your requirements stated 50 debates. One cannot vote on 50 debates before they qualify to vote in the first place.

If you meant 50 elections, this would be 25 years of waiting if terms are 6 months.
Only a truly delusional human being would think they are perfect.

This is because they are not me and I am perfect.

Am I delusional? Of course not! That rule only applies to humans and I am a god.

Then why can you get points for having voted in 2 past elections?
