Debate.org has a huge one on one debate system. By necessity, only one person is able to engage in the discussion.

What can be done when one notices a single user accepting more debates than they intend to actually pay attention to?

The user I'm thinking of currently is "Urapai" http://www.debate.org...

In the last two days, he has accepted four debates and created two more, while forfeiting a round of debate we were engaged in.

Of his six losses and six ties, he forfeited at least one round in FIVE.

Why are we allowing a serial forfeiter to continue to suck up debates?

Because the rest of us know how to suck it up, take the free win, and then just remake the debate after the first one ends.....

Are you suggesting that we ban him for biting off more than he can chew? One thing a lot of members do (especially the older members) is make a debate unacceptable to anyone, and tell people to voice their desire to accept the debate in the comments section of that debate. Then you can pick and choose who you want to debate.

Then you challenge the person who made the debate to the exact same debate, and learn to accept debates quicker when they are open

I'm more miffed that I wasted my time accepting one of his debates and putting actual effort into taking a stance, when he had no intention of returning to complete his arguments and yet found the time to engage six more people - two of which were debates I would have liked to engage in myself, once I realised the person I was contesting was apparently no longer interested.

I'm not in this for the points, so I could not care less about an "automatic win" (though it seems silly to call anything you have to wait two weeks for "automatic").

That's part of the nature of a site that gives such freedoms to members. People will have interests and lose them, they will do things on spurs and forget about them.

In all honest it is something you are going to have to get use to. Unless you challenge a veteran or someone with a record of finishing their debates, expect FFs in a good many of them. A good amount of people create an account, start a debate, then never log on again because they do not like the site. If you want a serious debate, challenge a serious user or just take the free win and be happy.

This is my first forum post, and after seeing what seek has to say, probably my last. Seriously, why waste a forum complaining? Why go through all the trouble of researching this guy, and trying to bring him down? Would you like it if someone made a forum called: "Can we call out annoying complainers?" -.-
