The Voting Squad is a group of members who vote on any debate (of reasonable quality.) The mission of the group is to ensure that every debate gets at least 2 or more votes. There is, undoubtedly, nothing worse than spending 3-7 days and countless hours working on a debate, only for it to receive ZERO votes.

What's the Negatives?
Having to vote. You do not need to check for new debates. The Squad Leader has his notifications set to pop up and display any fresh debates. He then messages everyone the list at the end of the day. The debates will only be 3 round+ and worth reading.

What's the Positives?
Everyone will prioritize your debates. After completing a debate, the squad will vote on it. You never have a shortage of votes.
(NOTICE: Everyone will vote honestly. Do not expect everyone to vote in favor of you because you are in the Squad.)

The squad will have a diversity among it's members political alignment.

No, This has been tried before, the results were very ugly. All who participated lost credibility. You are no better than your worst member. If one of you goes rogue you will all loose credibility. Which is exactly what happened the last time it was tried. Their approach was to ensure fair voting and remove what they believed to be vote bomb votes. Voting blocks are just a bad idea, they stink of corruption and manipulation of the voting process.

I will sign up. My goal is to vote quality, though. I would rather spend the time reading an entire debate round by round to ensure the most accuracy and understanding in an RFD than to skim 5 or 6 and potentially votebomb someone. With that said, I may only do 1 or 2 a week.

Sadly I am pretty busy in university to reliably vote on everything submitted.

However a good idea might be to flag members by political and religious leanings, to ensure transparency on any bias.

Diversity. It ensures that there isn't a Conservative (or Liberal) mob voting on everything, and that confirmation bias doesn't engulf the gang.

I've been through about half a dozen of these. There is nothing wrong with the idea, but they last about a month -- if you're lucky. There is no substitute for individuals being motivated to vote on their own. But I don't think it's harmful, and it may help improve the quality of voting and instill the habit.

If anyone on the squad is wondering why they didn't get notified today, it's because I'm only sending out the list every Wednesday and Saturday.

Remember to vote. If someone isn't voting at least a few times a week, they won't be notified the week after.

I can totally see this leading towards favoritism between the vote squad members when it comes to voting on each others debates. You need to:

1) Check for alot more than simply political ideology. You need to check for loyalties between the members.
2) Make sure the voters are actually good debaters themselves (I noticed one or two on the list that haven't even won 66% of their debates).
3) Make sure that whoever is choosing which debates qualify for being sent to members for voting aren't practicing their own bias when choosing which debates to pass along.
4) Expect for several members to deny debating any of these vote squad members due to the possibility of getting slammed by votes from the opponents fellow vote squad members.

The idea is good in theory, but not very practical. This benefits absolutely no-one but the 10 members allowed in your 'vote squad' and perhaps the people you deem fit for having their debates voted on -_-

**My point about the members on the list not even having good debate records themselves was based on the first list, not this new one you are attempting to start up.

You joining? lol.

That's why I intend on having diversity among the members.

You have been warned, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" Good luck in your endeavor.

Your not one of those people that learn from history are you? I said this has been tried before. Why would it turn out any different? Oh I know, because the people before weren't as enlightened as the new people attempting a failed idea.
It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

If liberal democrats would just stop shooting people gun violence would drop by 90%
