If it's petty, convince yourself that you're becoming a better person in resisting the temptation. If it's serious, or they've done it multiple times, I recommend slapping them several times. Don't put up with people's b.s, but try not to fight over petty things. Think of it this way: would other people see it as petty?

Think over the situation. Don't let it control you.

When you're ready, try to be nice to the person. Don't make things worse.

It's not worth harboring bad feelings toward someone unless you really want to make it a life-long investment.

I'm planning to apologize to donald.keller . . . because I think I was way too harsh on him in the comments section of one of his debates. I could have stated what I had to tell him more nicely, I think this is why me, him and a few others are in such a foul mood right now.

Try not to make the situation worse, yay. It's not worth the time and energy.

My advice to you is never under estimate the person you supposedly think you can slap with impunity.
It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

If liberal democrats would just stop shooting people gun violence would drop by 90%

Yay, ignore the advice that encourages revenge.

The truth is we're always going to have differences with people, for a variety of reasons. That doesn't mean we have a right to disrespect them.

Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity.

It's better to let it go and move on with your life. That set-up roadblocks for yourself. This is the worst possible action you can take.

You're claim that slapping people multiple times for annoying behavior is better than being a pacifist is going to need some justification.

hmm, well:
1. the best way to screw your enemies is to love thy enemy, it will piss them off and drive them nuts
2. kill them seems like the most valid option
3. I never meant that I had a hatred towards someone, but I had an adrenaline rush from doing something (not hurting other people, but through <something else>) and I just had the urge to slap someone because I had too much excess energy and I needed to find some way to give it off. like you all know that i'm really really calm, but when i get pumped up by something like the thrift shop, ya know?

yay, the best way to deal with someone you have an issue with is to admit you have differences, but accept that this doesn't have to lead to bad feelings and to ongoing conflict.

Again, differences are inevitable. But it doesn't mean people have to go to war over these differences. Me and my mother share different opinions on many issues - doesn't mean I have to hate her. The same with anybody else in life.

The wrong approach is to hate someone over differences.

Yes. I've been there. It's "venting" and it is useful. I do it to relieve myself of pinned-up anger, too.

Anyway, the important thing everyone needs to realize is that no one is the center of the universe - and events in our lives constantly remind us of this. But we still have to find a way to get on with life.

If it's petty, convince yourself that you're becoming a better person in resisting the temptation. If it's serious, or they've done it multiple times, I recommend slapping them several times. Don't put up with people's b.s, but try not to fight over petty things. Think of it this way: would other people see it as petty?

You're claim that slapping people multiple times for annoying behavior is better than being a pacifist is going to need some justification.

Not necessarily for annoying behaviour, but for non-petty behaviour.

For example, if someone calls you an idiot, and he/she is simply passing by on the street, would it be petty to run and catch up with him/her, just to have a word about that? I think so.

However, if you're sitting down on a train, and someone spills something on you, without apologising, would you honestly not do anything? Are you going to take that insult? What if he/she said that it was your fault for getting in the way?

First ask yourself, "Is this Chuck Norris I'm about to slap?"
Then ask yourself, "What would I do if it were Chuck Norris?"

I have actually had a beer spilled on me by someone while riding a city bus. I let it go, knowing that in the grand scheme of life it simply didn't matter. The same can be said for almost all annoyances and affronts to our honor that seem so serious at the moment they occur.

Whether it's someone spilling a drink on me or someone calling me a bad sport via the Internet, I'm going to brush it off.

No, read what I wrote again, whilst paying specific attention to context.
