New member here. I've always lurked around but never participated. I am interested in debate styles, and want to know if anyone has any good recommendations on books or online reading about debate styles?

I looking for different ways to organize a debate, not necessarily tactics on how to win a debate. I am looking different structures to facilitate a debate.

For this site, does the format/style of the debates have a name associated with it? Or does it depend on the debate.

People will post LD and Policy format debates here, or ask for debates in those styles. There is no hard and fast rule for general debates however. Style preferences are your own. The voting categories at the minimum should give a basic idea of at least what to consider.

The majority of debates on this site have no formal style.

The largest minority seems to be LD.

Like Puck said, Policy and also I think Public Forum round it off.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.
