This thread will be used to connect new members of the site to more experienced members, so that way they can more easily get accustomed to the site. Hopefully, this will increase the quality of the posts and debates we see from new members. People interested in mentoring will post to show their interest in the site, and then new members will go on to indicate their interest in working with the experienced member. From there, the mentor and mentee will work out between themselves the manner of their educational journey to whatever degree they are comfortable. Some recommendations: pre-readings of arguments, advice on the citation method we use here, how to vote on debates, how to flow an argument, etc.

There are plenty of people on this site who would take offense to that statement lol.

CP, I suggest setting restrictions for this. Such as 8 months on the site, 3,500 ELO, over 3,500 forum posts (some exceptions, such as Mikal, of course.)

For curiosity's sake what do you consider a noob? Is there a certain Elo ranking or something or is it pretty general?

A noob would technically be some member less than two months old, less than 2 or 3 hundred forum posts, less than 10 debates, clueless of surroundings, trying to fit in.

I'd lower that to 2000-2500 forum posts, at least one year on DDO, and no ELO limit since ELO doesn't matter.

why not 7 months and just slightly (very far) below 3500 ELO, like at least 2500

Well, you don't want a 2100 ELO over 50 debates teaching a noob how to debate. Maybe lower it to 2750. The forum posts, yeah... 2500 would be better.

2750 ELO would be better. I still feel 8 months would be better than seven.

A mentor (as stated) would "pre-check debate arguments" and "give them pointers to debate." Yeah, YYW would be an example of what you said.
