Yes, I've seen several people lie about their age on here. No way to verify you are actually 12. Still, congrats on breaking 4,000 Elo!

Also, congrats to Kleptin for surpassing Danielle recently in the leader-boards for the #3 spot. Felt like this thread would be appropriate to toss that one in, lol.

They go back and forth all the time, and they're both inactive so that's not going to change. Usually Danielle's ahead by a smidge, though. She'll be back at 3 soon... Then Kleptin will pass her again, then she'll pass him, and so forth, lol.

Oh I see. Haha, that's pretty funny actually. I was wondering why nobody mentioned it but it makes sense now if this is nothing new. Thanks for the info!

That'll take a very long time. Even if he wins 3 debates against Mikal, Roy could still have more elo than Blue.

He mentioned that he's 12 before, and you're profile can't go that low in age... 14 is the youngest you can get.

I think he also had an image of himself as his profile picture for some time... he definitely looked twelve in that.

I am really looking forward to that debate!! It'll be happening in a few weeks as soon as Bluesteel finishes up his semester I believe. Personally, I can't wait :)

Mikal's fun debates are entertaining, but it's the serious debates where you can really learn from their approach and formulation of arguments.

Yes, but if he beats Mikal I don't think Elo will change the fact that Bluesteel was the better debater. Elo is an excellent reference for debate ability, but even Mikal has admitted that there are a few who he views as better debaters. To my knowledge, he has said bluesteel and raisor are two of the best on this site.

Definitely. Bluesteel is pretty much a debate machine (compliment lol), with his ability to detect and manipulate the weaknesses in any argument and put forth several strong, well-organized contentions for pretty much anything he supports.

I couldn't agree more. I was just telling someone else yesterday how RoyL and Bluesteel have been the two members that I've gained the most from - knowledge wise. Throughout various PM's and interactions in the forums. Roy convincingly swayed my outlook on returning to the gold standard. First person to ever convince me to change a major position on something. And Blue... he's my idol in terms of law-school information and knowledge of law in general. He's kindly responded to every serious question I've ever posed to him, and I appreciate that greatly because law school is something I'm seriously considering post-grad.

You're gonna be a lawyer? I thought about it, but I kind of suck at speaking in general...

Yeah I only interacted with RoyL because he listed a set of possible debate topics when he and mikal were looking for debate topics to do. One of them was returning to the gold standard and he was Con which peaked my interest greatly. In the ensuing PM's he literally changed the way I saw the gold standard. It was an interesting opportunity to see his ability to convince others to his side.

And yes, I've been seriously considering Law. My father is an attorney who basically has a law-firm he'd like to have me take over one day. It'd be a wise move on my part to follow in his footsteps and continue the business since it's already established and has a good reputation with my father being AV rated in the state of Florida. My only reservation is that I might not be as passionate about law because I've seen the limits of it before it turns into politics.

For instance, my father recently had a case that involved a 30 million dollar settlement, but the judge sided with the county due to them being bankrupted if my dad's team won the case. Even though an injustice was done on part of the county - money spoke more than justice. That bothered me alot. But when it comes to asking questions about becoming a lawyer and the process, Bluesteel has been extremely informative and helpful - which I both respect and am grateful for.

The first 12 year-old in the history of DDO to break 4,000 ELO!

*crickets*

How do you know that no one else lied about their age?

Yes, I've seen several people lie about their age on here. No way to verify you are actually 12. Still, congrats on breaking 4,000 Elo!

Also, congrats to Kleptin for surpassing Danielle recently in the leader-boards for the #3 spot. Felt like this thread would be appropriate to toss that one in, lol.

Still waiting for bluesteel to take his rightful place above Mikal...

I really should get some of that advice then...considering I am 98.4% sure I want to go into law as a career...

Yeah, Bluesteel has been very helpful whenever I ask him a serious question. I'm about 82% sure. I noted my reservations in another response just now. It's ultimately that at a certain point - politics overrule justice.

Cool.

Not that ELO really matters much. I mean, STALIN hit 5K ELO and he has to be one of the worst debaters I have ever seen. Like I mean just out right horrendous. Just takes a little time and a little noob sniping.

Friends I tell you, judge a debater by his debates, and not by his stats.

If I have ever noobsniped, I put time into my arguments, unlike STALIN. Except for like 3 debates from a few months ago.

I completely agree. Raisor, larztheloser, and ClassicRobert are all incredible debaters with elo's that aren't even on the front page!

Though, weren't you really proud of hitting 4K when you were Crypto?

Oh no I agree with you. I'm not calling you out on anything. I think you're a pretty good debater and anyone who is willing to debate Thett3 on the death penalty isn't looking for a noob snipe now is he?

Lol of course. It was my goal to hit 4K ELO since I was a wee little newb, because I thought all the cool kids had 4k elo. I'm still pretty proud of having hit 4k, but that doesn't take away from what I said.
