I am going to organize a caucus for left-leaning DDOHeads for the Second DDO Presidentia Election. In this caucus we will nominate a ticket and come up with a platform.

If you wish to be included in the PM post here by Monday, February 8.

I reserve the right to deny access to deliberations.

If there weren't already an incumbency that had passed without event (the best news one can hear from governments) I'd propose the same thing of libertarians, but why mess with a winning formula?
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

lol, @ the "real" (in both senses of the word) libertarians have never had a winning formula.

Irrelevant. In DDO no one BUT the libertarians has ever had a winning formula.

If you are already announcing your candidacy without going trough our nomination process, then I cannot include you in the caucus. You will be considered an adversary. I urge you to reconsider.

And not to mention, Panda, you're way too moderate for our base.

According to advanced analysis (http://ddofans.com...), if we want to win this one, we have to stick to our base...I mean, look what happened when the left tried running Lwerd last time! :O

Come on, people! The right are beating us and already creating a platform. We need to get to it!

It's always the case with the Left. The Right always has picked their candidates very early on, while the left always squabbles until very close to The Convention. It's unfortunate, imo.

So what's the point of these elections anyway?

I thought the following system would be better:

1. Users pair up into pre-arranged tickets and put themselves in an ideology

2. User which are within the boundaries of that ideology choose the best ticket

3. Election race

Otherwise, put me in the Pm and for nomination.

I would like to say as a nominee of the left, I would encourage:

- Ethical advertisements, ones which do not pop up or talk, but rather support a noble cause e.g. nonprofit charities.

- The education and eventual integration of "Newbies" to become full fledged members.

- The expansion of DDOFans and the DDOWiki.

- The expansion in the number of debates available.

- More activities for users to participate in (e.g. Omegle games) and possible revival of the DDO Flash Mob.

Good. Along with being a good idea, it directly contrasts the Right's position for ads w/ porn.

- The education and eventual integration of "Newbies" to become full fledged members.

This sounds a little too statist. How about: "Expansion and funding of community-based programs, including those for education, welfare, and healthcare"?

- The expansion of DDOFans and the DDOWiki.

This isn't so much a Leftist position as it is an askbobian one. Besides, most on the Right agree with this. Not really a point in arguing fervently for it.

- The expansion in the number of debates available.

The number of debates available is unlimited...?

- More activities for users to participate in (e.g. Omegle games) and possible revival of the DDO Flash Mob.

Meh.

Not at all. They are already fractured and disorganized. This thread is just for finding who to include in our message. The creation of the platform and nominations will be in the PM. We will sort all of that out there.

Ok, I have a few suggestions for a platform.

-Take Panda's idea and have advertisements for non-profit charities(there's a Red Cross one for Haiti as I write this).

-Nationalize corporations(big business is evil).

- Universal Health care for the United States.

-Pull the troops out of Iraq.

-Cut the military budget and put the extra funds towards useful things such as education.

-Promote new membership to DDO.

Remember, these are just suggestions! Things could change.

Are we running for POTUS or POTDDO? Cause I don't see how Pres of the DDO is gonna be able to get healthcare for the US (unless their budget is bigger then I thought).

Errr. Insertnamehere, and everyone else, it's preferable we don't post anything along these lines. Don't splinter the party.
