So I get done with my exams on 22nd, after which I am completely free for the next 2 months or so. Here are a few topics I'd like to debate while I sit at home and wait for acceptance letters from colleges.

1. Euthanasia should be legalised. (Con)
2. Reservation in jobs are not justified (Pro)
3. Suicide is a crime (either)
4. Arranged marriages are better than love marriages (Either)
5. Voters should be given a none of the above choice in elections (Either)
6. In Harry Potter, elder wand was the most useful deathly hallow. (Pro)
7. Chocolates are good for the society (Pro)
8. Representative democracy is better than participatory democracy (Pro)
9. In revolutions against the government of a country, Pacifism is a better revolution tool than arms. (Pro)
10. Home work should be banned (Either)
11. This house would implement fat tax. (Either)

Anyone interested?

I'll have to research that, but I'll probably get back to you on that. Preliminary google search looked promising.

I could probably do the first one. Would we just be referring to adults, or would euthanasia be legal for everyone if I affirmed?

Also, does it fall under the same definition as it does in the United States, where people are only allowed to be euthanized (in the areas where that's a thing) if they are terminally ill with six months or less to live?

That's completely your prerogative. Although I don't think the principle would change in children.

Yeah, that works. Is it active or passive (or both) Euthanasia that's legalised?

I'm not from US. None of these topics particularly interest me. I could try, but I'd prefer something general.

Too absolute.

I'm for gay marriage, but that's against the UN charter. It can't really interfere in the internal matter of a country- at most it can send them a letter. Plus I'm kinda anti-UN so, I'd be con on this as well. Interested in a gay marriage debate? (If you're anti-gay marriage)

This is one I'd definitely be interested in seeing. In the West, arranged marriage is basically synonymous with parental cruelty and oppression. I'd like to see the other perspective

6. In Harry Potter, elder wand was the most useful deathly hallow. (Pro)

I'm Con for both.

These two seem interesting...

Would you be willing to redo them with me after June 11th if you get takers before?

I'm Pro too lol.

What do you mean by reservation?

Oh, goodness.

Voters already are given a none of the above choice: not voting.

: 4. Arranged marriages are better than love marriages (Either)

This is one I'd definitely be interested in seeing. In the West, arranged marriage is basically synonymous with parental cruelty and oppression. I'd like to see the other perspective

I never knew that. It definitely has a scope for abuse (read overprotective parents/ social conformity and such) but so does love marriages. I'd like debating this too - interested?

I'm Con for both.

These two seem interesting...

Would you be willing to redo them with me after June 11th if you get takers before?

Definitely. :)

7. Chocolates are good for the society (Pro)
I'm Pro too lol.

I'm not opposed to taking this.

Classic called dibs on this.

2. Reservation in jobs are not justified (Pro)

What do you mean by reservation?

Affirmative action? Like reserving particular percentage of jobs available for a certain minority/ ethnicity/ whatever. I just realized maybe its not universal everywhere- In India, some percentage of jobs in a private corporation are reserved for backward classes. I dunno if it happens elsewhere.

3. Suicide is a crime (either)
4. Arranged marriages are better than love marriages (Either)

Oh, goodness.

I've been thinking about it recently lol. Parents dropping subtle hints.
5. Voters should be given a none of the above choice in elections (Either)

Voters already are given a none of the above choice: not voting.

Active opposition vs passive opposition tho

6. In Harry Potter, elder wand was the most useful deathly hallow. (Pro)
7. Chocolates are good for the society (Pro)

9. In revolutions against the government of a country, Pacifism is a better revolution tool than arms. (Pro)

Oh, I like this too.

10. Home work should be banned (Either)
11. This house would implement fat tax. (Either)

I think I've thought enough about tax policy for a while, but if you take it, good luck.

Anyone interested?

Drop me a line if you want to debate anything, anything. Troll topics even. I'm gonna be so bored.

Ok. I'll just vote on it, then.

I've just never heard of it referred to as "reservation." Makes sense, though. I'm not familiar with the way India does it, so I probably wouldn't be the best person to take that.

3. Suicide is a crime (either)
4. Arranged marriages are better than love marriages (Either)

Oh, goodness.

Wow. I can't even imagine... although my mother would, before she had to face the fact that I was gay, would also drop subtle hints about my "future wife" and her want of grandchildren. I guess that's just what parents do...

5. Voters should be given a none of the above choice in elections (Either)

Voters already are given a none of the above choice: not voting.

Active opposition vs passive opposition tho

Yeah, but the option already implicitly exists...

Idk, I think you've got some good stuff here that people might be interested in taking you up on. We could do a Harry Potter vs. Hunger Games thing.... although I'd have to read the Hunger Games books lol

Yay. And I could test out the new voting thing Juggle laid out, I just realized. Reserve voters thing. :D

I didn't expect anyone to, though. I just assumed it happened everywhere, didn't really think that through. I was looking towards debating the concept really.

Haha, they mean well though. Its just the generation gap thing. Not that I have anything against arranged marriages, my mom and dad got arranged married and they are the cutest couple ever. Just, I dunno. I need to think it through.

5. Voters should be given a none of the above choice in elections (Either)

Voters already are given a none of the above choice: not voting.

But I want to tell them that I hate all of them. Not voting might just mean that I don't care enough to vote. I do care.

Oooh yeah. Dibs on something of that genre the first thing after you get done with the book. Something like Harry Potter is a better heroic figure than katnisis or something like that?

This. So much this. I will take Con if you want to debate it.

7. Chocolates are good for the society (Pro)

How can you debate this? This is indisputable true.

9. In revolutions against the government of a country, Pacifism is a better revolution tool than arms. (Pro)

I would debate this also.
