Heh, interesting idea.

http://www.debate.org...

Probably the best RFD I've left on a debate so far.... it took up almost all 2000 characters on 3 comments.

I don't care about whether an ideology is "necessary" or not,
I care about how to solve problems,
which is what everyone else should also care about.

I don't think I can provide a specific few that I was most proud to vote on. I could select some where the voting was close and I felt like I made a difference in the final tally. I could select some where my RFDs were extremely long and complex, and issues where my vote ended up being very close. I don't really think that I'm more proud of these votes, though. They make me think, they help me to appreciate the practice of voting more thoroughly, but they do not make me proud to vote.

That doesn't mean I can't point to an aspect of my votes that makes me proud, though. I'm proud of the votes where both sides understand my decision completely, even if one side isn't happy with the result. I'm proud of votes where I can give some constructive feedback that helps both debaters improve. I'm proud of votes where I have discussions with the debaters well after they're posted, even in the cases where they end up convincing me that my decision left out a key detail.

So I don't have debates to post because I can't say which ones I'm specifically proud of for these reasons. But suffice it so say, I am proud enough to keep on putting solid effort into my votes.

I don't think I've ever been proud to vote on anything. With some debates I'll write long, complicated RFD's (and I always do so when necessary) but with most debates it's just not necessary. Two or three sentences can explain why one person won a debate and the other lost. And as voting goes, I'd do more of it if more people asked me to judge good debates. That said, I hate nothing more than being asked to judge a shitty debate or a debate about something insane like the KCA or the existence of God, generally.

However, I'd judge most theology oriented debates if people asked. Same with all political, philosophical, etc. debates that I was asked to judge. I also like being nominated to judge stuff, and if I think the debate's not something I'd reasonably be interested in, I'll just say so. But even still, judging is just something that's got to be done. Granted, there are some who I think do it better than others -and even some who leave intricate RFD's that many think are good debaters but whose RFD's incorporate the judge's personal beliefs/false assumptions/etc. which has the effect of putting the judge in dialogue with the debaters -and so at the expense of the integrity of every ballot they cast. Still, there are others who judge debates based on moronic standards and whose decisions have no basis in reality whatsoever.

A long RFD doth not a good RFD make, and even a good debater doth not a good judge make. Sometimes, even the best debaters are the worst judges because they can't separate themselves from what they're reading -which is at once sad and frustrating. When judges fvck up BOP's, that's just another thing that makes me cringe.
