If people don't follow your rules in a debate, should you still be required to finish it with them? I only asked for one thing, and my opponent didn't follow my rule.

How about NO elections?

I am really in need of help here. I don't know if I scrap the debate, that people wont vote against me. My opponent didn't follow the rules, and I don't want to tell him I wont be debating if it hurts my win ratio.

Continue the debate and your opponent may lose the conduct point if voters realise they didn't follow your rule.
Solonkr~
I don't care about whether an ideology is "necessary" or not,
I care about how to solve problems,
which is what everyone else should also care about.

In essence, the world is fucked up and you can either ignore it, become cynical or bitter about it.

Me~
"BAILEY + SOLON = SAILEY
MY SHIP SAILEY MUST SAIL"

SCREW THAT SHIZ #BANNIE = BAILEY & ANNIE

Exactly what has your opponent done that is against the rules?

My opponent was supposed to begin in R1. It really screwed up my strategy. Can I scrap it?

Don't scrap it. Just let the voters penalize him how they see fit.

"My opponent will go next round." is a very ambiguous statement. I didn't take your opponent's actions as not being complicit with the rules. Offcially you are Pro and it is your job to present an argument. While not completely unheard of it is silly to have Con present a counter argument before you've even argued. If I were judging I would view that Con was just being kind to a new user with very few debates and is unsure how to set up debates. So he just noted several definitions and then gave it back to you so that you'd have the same number of debate rounds.
