In the spirit of my debate with Tulle (check it out!), I'm interested in doing (and reading) a debate over something related to breaking bad. Anyone interested? I'm not sure on any topics yet so please feel free to discuss them with me and each other here.

I would REALLY want to read a debate of some kind over if Walter White redeemed himself in the end, but I don't think I'd want to argue it

Idk. Saving Jesse? Admitting that he did it all for himself? Idk. It's not a position I endorse but I can see someone arguing for it..there are certainly breaking bad fans who defense Walter to the death lol

saving jesse was an afterthought; he killed those guys more out of boredom (where he was previously) and to take back his blue meth business than for redemption (for hank or whatever). That's why he goes out to be with his blue meth for one last time at the very end.

I'm not so sure about that. I didn't see much indication that he was intending to get back to business. I took it as a desperate gamble to save Jesse and end the risk to Sklyer and I don't think he thought he was going to be walking out of that meeting. I've only seen the series once though so maybe there was some subtext I missed

I am 100% in agreement, and I don't think I could possibly judge that because of how much I wanted Hank to die that entire show.

Of course it doesn't really, but redemption in a literary or symbolic sense can be achieved by a fitting end. I don't think the ending met that criteria. I'm way more interested in reading debates about the show than actually making them and started this thread in the hopes that it would give someone else an idea

I agree. Skyler has her problems, but most of the Skyler-hating is unjustified. That could, though, be a very interesting debate to read.

My biggest issue with her was when she threw away her plausible deniability for basically no reason and forced Walter to buy the car wash and insisted upon being the one in charge of the laundering.

I don't really think she was a b!tch. I think she held up rather admirably given the circumstances, although she definitely did have her problems.

I agree. I also wanted her to be more decisive about her position. She wanted to both be in and out of Walt's little enterprise, and that made her look weak as a character and as a woman. I think the way she was played was highly realistic to that end, but Skyler was, in many ways frustrating. Though to call her a bitch, I think, is overkill.

I wouldn't say Skyler is a b!tch, but I definitely think she is an overall unlikable and frustrating character.

I think a good topic for a serious Breaking Bad debate would be on whether or not Walt is a sympathetic character. I could see this being argued either way, and the only reason why I haven't already made a debate like this is because I'm undecided myself.

I'm currently re-watching Breaking Bad, but I'd vote the hell out of a debate about that.
If you're reading this, you're awesome and you should feel awesome.
