There needs to be a recognition of humanists on DDO.

Atheism which isn't a religion is a selection for religion on one's profile so then should Humanism or a Humanist option.

Humanism is an ethical outlook on politics that an atheist, deist, Theist or even agnostic may have, it is not a religious outlook by any means.

Then you don't truly know what humanism Is.

Depending on which type of humanism you are talking about, humanism is a religion.
There is Christian humanism and Buddhist humanism both recognised religions.

There are humanist churches and Humanist weddings.

Not only can Humanism be cultural, ritual, moral and even spiritual. It is the belief in humanity and for the greater good that Humanism provides.

That is exactly my point.

It's a subcategory of any religion. There are Muslim humanists too.

It's a non-religious belief that affects ethics and politics.

Scientology is classed as religion. Buddhism can technically can be counted as ideological depending on which variation you have chosen.

You once again haven't said why when it is already legally recognised.

Even the US army. People who fight and die for their country and in the name of freedom can select Humanism as a religion.

Soldiers are not supposed to be intelligent, they are supposed to be obedient and conformist, they are not a good basis for the validity of a religion. Some would list 'killing people' as a religion if you offered it.

That is an insult to the army and people who would happily die for freedom, there family and there country. Retract that statement.

I do not retract it. Instead I add on that they are braver and more capable of killing in an organized, strategic manner than almost any civilian and that civilians who are good at this, mimic war strategy.

They are not supposed to be intelligent, they are supposed to be focused on the here and now and destroy mindlessly. They are great at what they do, don't get me wrong.

You've got some chutzpah. I said w/e because I don't feel like taking the time to explain to you why there is nothing you could foreseeably need to discuss within the area your OP was about that you could not do within the philosophy section. As such, your op is ill-conceived and your proposal is unnecessary.

Not only are you making a dumb suggestion, but you're not even making your suggestion for site improvement in the correct place. This is the only place where you should have posted it:

http://www.debate.org...

So, as a review, you're proposing solving a problem that is already solved (ergo, your post is dumb) and you made your dumb post in the incorrect place. As such, I will advise you to read the forum before you speak.

And frankly, I'll just advise you to leave. We have enough rancorous trouble makers here as it is. We don't need another...

I have already left the proposal twice in the right place but I soon realised for the site to enact my suggestion I would have to make my point by other means by using other functions of the site.

My next step I thought was petitioning but I don"t know enough members for that and then there was going to the site president and the moderators and just be persistent each day on the proposal until they saw sense.

This is in the DDO section to grab the attention of others. I have already left a proposal 2 weeks ago and nothing was done and I have also left a proposal recently and if you would have looked you would have known that.

This suggestion is a sensible step forward recognising humanists on this site. The USA army recognises them to fight and die for their country. The Scottish government recognises them in marriage so DDO should recognise them in due course. I am just a humble idealist with moderate proposals against the ignorant.

You really have the maxilla of saying that the problem is solved. The problem is only solved when I am able to select humanism on my profile page. By the way the only real respected language that is worth making effort to change a word for is Ancient Greek or Latin and if you went to oxford you would have known that.

That is not the issue. The issue is whether it would be appropriate for him to discuss what he wants to discuss in the philosophy section.

There needs to be a recognition of humanists on DDO.

Atheism which isn't a religion is a selection for religion on one's profile so then should Humanism or a Humanist option.

It's called "philosophy."

No it's religion. You need to pay more attention to the selection options.

You two should debate the issue. I will vote on it if you do.

Resolved: humanism is a religion

That is not the issue. The issue is whether it would be appropriate for him to discuss what he wants to discuss in the philosophy section.

I still believe that the DDO section was far more appropriate.

I have already left the proposal twice in the right place but I soon realised for the site to enact my suggestion I would have to make my point by other means by using other functions of the site.

That people ignore you does not mean that you should be more vocal. In this case, it means that no one thinks your idea is a good one. This is perhaps because the problem you cited isn't a problem.

That is precisely what it means. One should hit quickly hit hard and keep hitting.

My next step I thought was petitioning but I don"t know enough members for that and then there was going to the site president and the moderators and just be persistent each day on the proposal until they saw sense.

Yes, and you see the overwhelming support that has followed... rofl

I explained to you why that wouldn't work and you have failed to listen once more.

This is in the DDO section to grab the attention of others. I have already left a proposal 2 weeks ago and nothing was done and I have also left a proposal recently and if you would have looked you would have known that.

Indeed, because no one cares.
I am going to make them care. Change doesn't happen on it's own.

This suggestion is a sensible step forward recognising humanists on this site. The USA army recognises them to fight and die for their country. The Scottish government recognises them in marriage so DDO should recognise them in due course. I am just a humble idealist with moderate proposals against the ignorant.

No. Your suggestion is a waste of time.
Yet you fail to explain why. A claim doesn't become true just because you say it does. This isn't Hollywood were one can write something down and it become law.

You really have the maxilla of saying that the problem is solved. The problem is only solved when I am able to select humanism on my profile page. By the way the only real respected language that is worth making effort to change a word for is Ancient Greek or Latin and if you went to oxford you would have known that.

lol, this is perhaps because you lack a sufficient understanding of the word "philosophy."

Then you don't understand the context of the forum and the suggested change to the site. Keep trying to fight against the changing tides, you might just win or get swept up underneath.

Dear boy... this is becoming embarrassing for you. Do shut up and go away.
You have a talent for saying something with out saying anything at all. You have enough hot gas to make a politician envious.

omg... this is futile. Go away.

Futile...maybe for you. If you don't want to respond then don't. Ignore what I am saying and move onto something you would consider more productive.

omg would you KEEP UP?

The issue is not, now, where you SHOULD have posted your ill conceived complaint. The overriding issue is WHETHER your complaint was ill conceived. It was, because the PHILOSOPHY section would be a suitable place for you to discuss stuff that relates to humanism.

Do you even know how to read?
