Wouldn't a DDO app be great?

Ease of access

Notifications to your phone

More people using it

Phone-friendly viewing options (it can be hard on to use touch phones to click on things!)

Can anyone think of any other benefits?

Debate.org is not well known enough to call for its own phone app.

A phone app might help change that. However I don't want to think about the development costs.

This is one of the few improvements that could directly earn debate.org's owners more money. I think we may be surprised by how quickly they'd be on board.

Kbub -- an app is a great (terrible) idea! I could totally peruse through DDO (feed my addiction) more efficiently.

Yeah, it's corded to a wall. Damn whippersnapper.

Seriously, what is an app?
I have a smartphone, I think, and I can access DDO on it. So, what is an app, if it is not the internet?

Does Juggle even have an apps division? I had thought programming in HTML was quite different than knowing how to develop for the Android and iOS platforms.

Reddit is the 8th most popular website on the internet and the site still has never developed its *own* app. There are two good ones by third-party dev's, but that goes to show you whether websites generally consider it worthwhile to make an app just to help their users access the site on mobile.

the scrolling on DDO must be really hard for you.

An app would format it far better.

In relation to your first part. "The 70's called they want their phone back".

An App: a self-contained program or piece of software designed to fulfil a particular purpose; an application, especially as downloaded by a user to a mobile device.

You think you have a smart phone? Seriously how old are you? (You don't have to answer)
It allows you to download things such as games and books to your phone directly, instead of searching online all the time. Downloading them sometimes also gives extra perks.
How come when I hit review it sometimes adds my post without me clicking add post?

I believe they call it that. I hate it and don't use it.
I prefer my old clamshell cell phone. I don't need access to the internet. Hell, I don't need to stay in touch with people constantly anyway. I use it to make phone calls.

I believe my profile says 32.

It allows you to download things such as games and books to your phone directly, instead of searching online all the time. Downloading them sometimes also gives extra perks.
So, are people really this impatient that they can't load the internet? Can they not bookmark the page? DDO is the page that pulls up on my browser when I turn it on, so, I guess people must use the internet constantly for other things on their phones.

1. I don't use my phone much.
2. It isn't difficult, I just swipe, and adjust the size of the zoom for quick access.

An app would format it far better.
If that is what they are for, I suppose so.

I don't have a phone at all, but I guess being younger and born in this technological generation makes all the difference.

Just saying, If your 32 wouldn't you know about most of these technological advances that we have had, or do you not watch and read about the new gadgets and gizmo's coming out?

These days people use the internet on their phones a lot more than you most likely so they don't have the time or effort to bookmark and all this, so what they do is just download an App to get their quickly. Our phones even talk to us now which makes it even easier.

To be fair, I was partially joking about being so ignorant; however, I honestly did not know apps are different than the internet.
Word of warning, though, when I was 26, I remember looking at my now wife, and saying, we're never going to be as out of touch with the world/technology as our parents. Last time we bought a phone (last year) we had no clue what the hell was going on.

Just saying, If your 32 wouldn't you know about most of these technological advances that we have had, or do you not watch and read about the new gadgets and gizmo's coming out?
As I said, I was playing a fool, but not too much.
I hate technology - it makes people reliant and more stupid. I am hardly a Luddite, but I despise many technological innovations, or, at least, how they are mass produced and forced down our throats.

These days people use the internet on their phones a lot more than you most likely so they don't have the time or effort to bookmark and all this, so what they do is just download an App to get their quickly. Our phones even talk to us now which makes it even easier.
Unless you have so many apps you need an app to find the app.
But, I suppose if the market demands one, it should be made, but I weep a bit.

The only reason I even have a smart phone is because my wife's phone stopped working (thanks touch screen that stops working after a year!!), and we found that we could actually get a smartphone for cheaper (out the door) than replacing her old one. I upgraded because there was no price difference in our plan.
The only reason I have a cell phone was for work, because people who order pizza are too stupid to receive their orders 5-10% of the time. Smartphone was an experience, and I hate it. Too big, too expensive, too short of battery, and making calls is difficult.

Give me an actual keypad any day that my finger can grove along.
My work here is, finally, done.

"App" is shorthand for "application", in this context it means a mobile software program.
