I think that many people abuse the voting system. In order to avoid this in some way, I thought about something.

Let us say that it is not possible to vote on a debate you yourself choose to. Instead, you have to click on something that makes a debate show up automatically, and you can only read the arguments. We would get more votes on different debates, and there would be less abuse.

It would also be good if nobody could vote for himself. He would also not be able to create a new account to vote for himself, since he cannot just pick a specific debate in which he can vote.

Comments on this?

You can still 'skip' if you do not like a debate.

Given that at least 15 - 20% of all debates feature some kind of forfeit or idiotic argument (E.g. frenchmoose), this system would be extreme fail.

remove the score board. Don't let people see what the score is or how others voted UNTIL you vote, then the vote stays locked in and you can then see other people's voting habit.

Or, on debates that have the "voting is open for X days" rather then forever, make it so no one can see anyvotes until the polls close.

No. There are many things you can do to make this system very good.

We can say that voting starts every Sunday. If you finish a debate on Saturday, people will be able to vote on Sunday. Then we have many debates to be voted on every Sunday, and there will be many random ones, and if there is too much forfeit etc., then one can skip.

Yeah, but the system will be clogged with forfeited debates. Honestly, the system as it stands is fine.

Scrap voting. :P

I can only speak for myself but the main reason that I debate on this site is because of the voting system. I don't really think that it can be a debate without the determination of a victor, if no one wins then its just a heated discussion.

Then it should be possible for them to appear, too. Or a forfeit could mean two points automatically to the one who did not forfeit. This could be good, too.

Frenchmoose is an tastefull troll and we should keep him. Datc is not and still shows up once a week to post the most unhumorous spam in the religous thread.

Keep frenchmoose, lynch Datc
