I'm out of the loop here.

In a nutshell, can somebody give me a brief explanation of what these elections are and why they're being held along with the opposing parties and their representative views? Also, when are these elections actually held and how do you vote?

I am running for president, and I have pledged to establish a Church of Nihilism if I win.

Both parties are hoping what they offer is right for the site <_< This guy was asking what the election where, not who was running ad if he should vote for them.

The President is our elected liaison between the community and the company that owns DDO, Juggle. The President is not a mod.

I would read the interview that is in my sig because it will allow you to compare the main candidates directly. Personally, I have endorsed Bladerunner060, as has a former President, TUF. This is a good summation of why: http://www.debate.org...

I'll try!

On Friday, someone (I believe it is Ore_Ele) will post a thread wherein people will place their bolded votes for either an official candidate (Mikal/Imabench, Blade/Cermank), a third party candidate/parody candidate lol (Bennet/Comrade_Silly Otter) or a write-in candidate. Each candidate will also appoint officials and receive endorsements (for example, Bluesteel is the chief of staff of Mikal's campaign and Thett3 the Chief of Bladerunner's)

There used to be political parties, but not anymore. Mikal has a platform and Bladerunner has a platform; each with a different conception of what the presidency should stand for and what he should strive to do.

Bladerunner's campaign and Mikal's campaign are similar in being good spirited and seeking to have a positive influence on the community, but they do it in different ways with very differential ideas of how a president should fundamentally behave.

You vote for whose platform you agree with. Happy voting!

Notable Threads

Blade's Platform

(Includes focusing on promising the fundamentals and what is feasible for a president to independently achieve; maintaining community voting incentives and social programs)

Mikal's Platform

(Only a few parts, many parts of his platform are spread out through various threads and it includes pressing fiercely for more negotiations and updates with juggle/moderation, pressing for major updates, whilst also maintaining community incentives)

It's 2 members that are running to improve the community. They act as a "liaison" between juggle and the community, granted the word liaison is quite loose right now because juggle is kind of a wall and no updates have been done in forever. They stated in tufs term they were removing Resources from the site to put elsewhere. That seems to not have changed

The issue and argument that is opposing me thus far is that I am running against an incumbent that has a working relationship with juggle. That implies a few things.

(a) That I cannot build a relationship with them which is false (there have been presidents more controversial than imabench that have had working relationships with them)

(b) That juggle is willing to work with the president at all. Nothing about blades term implies they are. So from that point moves to who has the most realistic expectations and goals and who can achieve them

Just some info to read over
